Achievo Corporation announced a $24 million Series B financing on February 27, 2007, from institutional and private investors. The company said the money would cover current obligations and future operating needs; it did not identify a specific acquisition as the purpose of the round.

What Achievo said the $24 million would fund

In its February 27, 2007 announcement, Achievo described the financing as sufficient to cover its current obligations and future operating needs. The announcement characterized the capital as support for the company’s operations, not as funds committed to a named acquisition. Achievo’s announcement, distributed through PR Newswire APAC, did not name the investors beyond describing them as institutional and private investors.

Chief financial officer Julio Leung distinguished the Series B from possible future financing: “The Series B round of $24 million is more than adequate to cover current obligations and future operating needs. If we decide to pursue additional funding in the future, it will be related to major acquisitions and strategic corporate development initiatives.” The conditional statement concerns potential future funding, not a confirmed plan to raise again.

Achievo’s outsourcing model and footprint in 2007

Achievo presented itself as a software and information-technology outsourcing provider that had grown organically and through acquisitions. The company described a model in which local client-facing operations were paired with substantial back-end programming in China, and said it had delivery capabilities in 14 cities worldwide. It also named financial services, automotive, telecommunications, and technology among the sectors it served. These are company-reported details from 2007, not a description of its current business or locations.

Contemporaneous InfoWorld coverage by Sumner Lemon described Achievo as California-based, with offices in Japan, Germany, Taiwan, Canada, and the United States, as well as six offices in China. The report said much of its back-end programming used .Net and Java. Those details likewise describe the company at the time of the announcement, not its present-day footprint or technology stack.

How the financing relates to Achievo’s acquisition strategy

The company’s broader growth story included mergers and acquisitions, and Leung said that major acquisitions and strategic corporate development could be reasons for additional funding in the future. That does not establish that the 2007 Series B was earmarked for an acquisition. Later corporate-history references should not be read as evidence of the original round’s intended use.

What is known about Achievo’s later history

Beyondsoft’s company-history page lists an acquisition of Achievo Group in its mergers-and-acquisitions history: Beyondsoft company history. That reference supports a limited historical note, but does not establish that Achievo continued as an independent business, that every operation was acquired, or that the Achievo name remains a distinct operating company. It also does not change what the 2007 announcement said about the financing’s use.
