That is a potential business advantage, not proof that Muse is already winning—and Meta says Muse conversations and virtual-machine data are not shared with its ad systems.
What Muse does—and why Meta’s platform matters
Meta introduced Muse on September 8, 2026, describing it as a personal AI agent powered by Muse Spark. Unlike a chatbot that only responds to prompts, Muse is designed to carry out tasks such as browsing websites, filling in forms, booking travel, and preparing actions for a person to approve. It runs in a dedicated cloud environment Meta calls Muse Secure VM. At launch, Meta said Muse was available in the United States on iOS, Android, and muse.ai. Meta describes the service as free for most needs, with subscription plans for people who want to do more; it did not state prices in the cited launch announcement. Meta’s launch announcement

The potential edge is distribution and business reach. Meta operates consumer apps and a major advertising business, so it may be able to introduce an agent to people already using its services and support it with more than agent subscriptions alone. That gives Meta a possible strategic advantage over companies whose principal product is an AI agent. It does not by itself establish that Muse is more capable, better adopted, or more profitable than competitors.
How the advertising argument should be understood
The Motley Fool’s October 10, 2026 article argues that Meta could benefit indirectly from Muse through its broader ecosystem, even if the agent itself does not display ads. The distinction matters: Meta’s launch announcement says, “Muse doesn’t share a person’s conversations or the data in their VM with Meta’s ad systems.” The available official statement therefore does not support a claim that Muse conversation data is used to target ads. The same article reports 5 million U.S. downloads, $59.4 billion in second-quarter advertising sales (described there as 98% of total revenue), and 3.6 billion daily active users across Meta’s family of apps. These are figures reported by The Motley Fool, not independently corroborated here against Meta’s original financial or measurement sources. The article’s suggestion that AI-only rivals may eventually need to introduce advertising is a forecast, not an established outcome. The Motley Fool article
What users should know about permissions and availability
Meta says a separate Sentinel agent mediates Muse’s internet access. For sensitive actions, such as sending email or making purchases, Muse requests permission. Meta also describes an audit trail, controls for service permissions, the ability to disconnect services, a way to ask Muse to forget information, and an option to opt out of training use. These are Meta’s descriptions of its product and policies, not the findings of an independent security audit. Meta’s launch announcement

Meta has also announced plans to bring Muse to its AI glasses for hands-free interactions, including acting on what the wearer is looking at. Its Connect announcement described that integration as coming in the following months; it should not be read as confirmation that Muse was available on every Ray-Ban Meta model. Glasses are an optional related product, not a prerequisite for using Muse. Meta’s Connect announcement
Meta’s strategy also reaches businesses: it announced Muse for Small Business, with connections to business services and Meta business accounts. The announcement says approval is required before the agent publishes, sends, or spends. Meta’s small-business announcement

What this means for Meta investors
Muse’s connection to Meta’s existing services and advertising operation is a credible reason the company might have more ways to distribute and monetize an AI agent than a standalone agent provider. But ecosystem scale is not evidence of product superiority, and the available figures do not establish Muse’s long-term adoption or economics. Meta has confirmed a free offering and subscriptions for greater use; official subscription prices and transaction-fee terms are not established in the cited sources.
For a stock decision, separate the strategic possibility from verified performance. The Motley Fool article’s investment framing is not individualized financial advice. Investors would need to weigh Muse alongside Meta’s broader results, risks, and valuation rather than treat a potential agent advantage as a buy signal.
