OH Nurse Hub: Is It Really a Game-Changer for Occupational Health Professionals?

OH Nurse Hub brings occupational-health calculators, screening tools and workplace-health reference content to mobile devices—but it is not a diagnostic or fitness-certification system.

OH Nurse Hub: OccuHealth Tools is a real, free mobile app that combines occupational-health calculators, reference information and fitness-related guidance. Its convenience is credible; the stronger “game-changer” claim is not yet supported by independent validation, outcome studies or evidence of broad professional adoption. Treat it as a supplementary reference tool—not a medical record system, diagnostic engine or replacement for qualified occupational-health judgment.

What is OH Nurse Hub?

OH Nurse Hub is associated with developer Ahmad Latif and the FitToWork.net/Workplace Wellness Hub ecosystem. It is listed on Apple’s App Store and Google Play. The developer describes it as a mobile companion for occupational-health and workplace-wellness information aimed at occupational-health (OH) nurses, OH physicians and health, safety and environment (HSE) teams.

Apple lists the app as free, with iPhone and iPad support requiring iOS/iPadOS 12 or later. Google Play lists package identifier com.fitwork.ohnurse. Store availability, supported operating systems and features can change with updates.

It is not presented as an electronic occupational-health record, certified medical device, clinical documentation platform or autonomous fitness-certification service.

What does the app include?

The developer says the app contains 19 tools, although that count may change. The publicly listed features fall into several different risk and use categories:

Category Examples Appropriate use
Fitness and physical health VO₂ max for firefighter-related use, Harvard Step Test, peak expiratory flow, target heart rate, BMI, waist-to-hip ratio and ideal weight Preliminary calculation, education and consultation preparation
Exposure Heat index, noise exposure and concentration conversion, including µg/m³ to ppm Quick estimation and unit checking; not a substitute for workplace monitoring
Risk screening Blood pressure, diabetes-risk and heart-risk assessments Risk discussion and referral, not diagnosis
Wellbeing Stress, fatigue, Self-Rating Depression Scale and nicotine-dependence assessments Conversation starters and signposting to appropriate care
Guidance and reference Fitness-for-work guidance, occupational-disease information and workplace-health articles Preparation and general education

The developer also describes content on occupational diseases, chemical causes and exposure limits, heat, noise, mental health, pregnancy and work, sleep, diabetes, nutrition, exercise, business travel and worker wellness.

How professionals might use it

Point-of-care calculations

An OH nurse could use a unit-conversion or concentration tool while discussing monitoring results, or calculate a preliminary fitness measure during a consultation. Record the input values, units, date, instrument or source and any assumptions so the result can be reproduced.

Heat and noise conversations

A heat-index result can help start a discussion about work-rest schedules, hydration and controls. A noise estimate can help explain exposure concepts. Neither result replaces calibrated measurements, a full risk assessment or the legally applicable exposure limit.

Fatigue and mental-health discussions

Fatigue, stress or depression screens may structure a conversation with a shift worker or prompt referral. A score is not a diagnosis. A low score cannot rule out serious difficulty, and a high score requires appropriate follow-up rather than an automatic employment decision.

Firefighter and safety-critical preparation

VO₂ max and step-test tools may support education or preparation for a formal assessment. They do not determine whether a firefighter, driver, offshore worker or other safety-critical employee is fit for duty.

Worker education

Because the app also appears to target workers and general users, it may provide an accessible starting point for learning about occupational disease, sleep, heat or healthy-lifestyle topics. That broad audience also increases the risk that a user mistakes a screening output for a diagnosis or formal clearance.

What it cannot safely do

  • Diagnose illness: BMI, peak flow, blood-pressure, heart-risk and diabetes-risk results are estimates or screening outputs, not confirmation of disease.
  • Issue a fitness certificate: fitness decisions require the actual job demands, hazards, medical history, functional capacity, restrictions, accommodations, law and professional standards.
  • Replace exposure monitoring: heat, noise and chemical calculations depend on accurate duration, units, measurements and assumptions.
  • Provide emergency triage: urgent symptoms or immediate safety concerns require local emergency or clinical services, not an app score.
  • Serve as an occupational-health record: the public material does not establish patient records, audit trails, reporting, integrations or administrator controls.

How strong is the evidence?

The developer describes the content as trusted or evidence-based and says the app includes an ILO occupational-disease list with chemical causes and exposure limits. Those are developer claims. The public listings do not establish peer-reviewed validation for each calculator, independent accuracy testing, a named clinical-governance board, the source and date of every exposure limit, or jurisdiction-specific validity.

Evidence check: Independent validation of every individual calculator and recommendation was not established in the available public listings. Verify references, update dates, thresholds, contraindications and intended populations inside the current app before relying on a result.

Privacy and workplace use

Apple displays the developer’s declaration that the app collects no data, while noting that Apple has not verified the developer’s privacy practices. Google Play likewise displays developer-provided declarations of no data collection and no third-party sharing. These are store disclosures, not an independent privacy audit.

Before an organization approves the app, determine whether calculations run locally, whether inputs or history are stored, whether analytics or crash reporting is used, whether external web pages open and whether the privacy policy covers the app itself. Until those details are verified, do not enter identifiable patient or employee information.

Important failure modes

Exposure tools

Wrong units, estimated duration, uncombined exposure periods, outdated measurements or a country-specific limit can produce a misleading answer. A unit conversion is not a permissible-exposure limit.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Heat assessment

A heat index may omit radiant heat, air movement, clothing and personal protective equipment, work intensity, acclimatization, hydration, medical vulnerability and work-rest schedules. Use it as a quick indicator, not a complete heat-stress program.

Mental-health screening

Self-assessment can create false reassurance, unnecessary alarm, stigma or inadequate follow-up. Significant or persistent symptoms warrant professional assessment; immediate danger requires urgent help.

False precision

An exact-looking number can conceal rough inputs. Document the inputs, date, units, source and app version where available, then interpret the output in context.

OH Nurse Hub versus occupational-health software

OH Nurse Hub appears suited to portable reference, education and simple calculations. Organizations needing case management, health surveillance, vaccination tracking, exposure records, appointment workflows, compliance documentation, employer dashboards or HR and safety integrations need dedicated occupational-health software instead. No public material establishes enterprise administration, centralized management or formal audit functionality for OH Nurse Hub.

Who should consider downloading it?

  • Individual OH nurses, OH physicians and HSE professionals wanting a compact reference toolkit
  • Students learning basic occupational-health concepts
  • Small teams needing free calculators for preliminary discussions
  • Workers seeking general education before speaking with a qualified professional

Formal workplace deployment should follow review by clinical governance, privacy, information-security and legal teams. Confirm that guidance matches the relevant country, regulator, sector and employer policy.

Alternatives and cross-checks

Use the occupational-health regulator or professional body in your jurisdiction for legal duties, exposure limits and hazard controls. In the United States, relevant sources may include OSHA and NIOSH; in the United Kingdom, HSE and the Faculty of Occupational Medicine may be relevant. A general health calculator may offer different explanations or validation, while specialized occupational-health platforms provide records and workflow capabilities that this app does not publicly demonstrate.

Verdict

OH Nurse Hub is best understood as a convenient, free collection of occupational-health calculators and reference material. It may save time during education and preliminary consultations, but its outputs require competent interpretation and local verification. The app should supplement current guidance, validated instruments, workplace measurements and individualized professional assessment—not replace them.
