NWN Carousel acquired Seattle-based federal IT provider Leverage Information Systems, a deal that CRN reported put NWN above $1 billion in revenue and expanded its reach into federal markets. The reported milestone and strategic plans came from NWN management as quoted by CRN; the report did not disclose the purchase price or detailed transaction terms.

What NWN Carousel acquired

CRN reported on September 16, 2024, that NWN Carousel had acquired Leverage Information Systems. NWN provides managed technology services, while Leverage focused on federal IT work. The deal combined NWN’s services and technology platform with Leverage’s federal customer relationships, contract access, Pacific Northwest presence, and technical staff.

Leverage co-founder and CEO Doug Chesler and co-founder and Executive Vice President Terry Woodruff joined NWN, according to CRN. The report also described the acquisition as expanding NWN’s Pacific Northwest footprint and adding commercial accounts in the region.

How the deal expanded NWN’s federal business

CRN said Leverage had more than 60 federal contracts and more than 200 customers. Its reported agency customers included the U.S. Navy, the Department of Energy, and NASA. These figures and customer examples are from CRN’s 2024 report, not a separately verified post-acquisition account.

NWN Senior Vice President of Corporate Development Matt Curran said NWN planned to offer its managed services and Experience Management Platform through Leverage’s federal contract vehicles. He described the platform as serving agency needs such as security, monitoring, IT management, and hardware and software asset management. Those statements describe NWN’s strategy and product claims at the time; CRN did not report measured results from the cross-selling plan.

Why the acquisition was described as a $1 billion milestone

CRN reported that NWN passed $1 billion in revenue after acquiring Leverage. Curran said NWN had grown from less than $300 million to more than $1 billion over five years, and characterized the deal as an accelerant to that growth. This is a company growth claim reported by CRN, not an independently audited financial statement in the article.

CRN also reported that Leverage ranked No. 380 on the 2024 CRN Solution Provider 500, had recently entered Cisco’s top 10 federal partner rankings, and had been Cisco’s No. 1 partner in the sciences market segment for seven consecutive years. These rankings provide context for Leverage’s position as reported at the time, rather than a measure of the acquisition’s later performance.

Deal context and what was not disclosed

The report placed the acquisition seven months after NWN was acquired by American Securities. Curran said that partnership helped make the Leverage transaction possible. That is the relationship described in the September 2024 report; it does not establish current ownership details.

CRN did not disclose the purchase price, detailed financing or other transaction terms, or the precise legal closing date. It described integration as a focus, but did not provide subsequent financial results or evidence of how fully NWN and Leverage’s operations were integrated. NWN customer and employee Net Promoter Scores of 74 and 85, respectively, were also reported by CRN; the report did not specify survey methods or sample sizes.
