NuSynth Technologies has raised ₹36.5 crore (approximately $4 million, according to contemporaneous coverage) in a seed round co-led by Avaana Capital and Shastra VC. The startup is developing an R&D-led platform intended to redesign manufacturing processes for complex chemistry, initially targeting pharmaceuticals and electronics chemicals.

What NuSynth raised

The financing is a seed round of ₹36.5 crore. Avaana Capital and Shastra VC jointly led the investment. The reports covering the announcement do not disclose NuSynth’s valuation, dilution, the investment instrument, or a complete cap table, so the size of the cheque cannot be used to infer those terms.

One contemporaneous report gives an approximate equivalent of $4 million. That conversion is a rounded figure; the rupee amount is the announced funding figure and is the more precise way to describe the round.

What NuSynth Technologies does

NuSynth describes itself as an R&D-led process-innovation platform for complex chemistry. Rather than treating an established manufacturing recipe as fixed, its stated approach examines the process from first principles.

Three parts of the process it wants to rethink

  • Starting materials: identifying alternative inputs that may improve economics, availability or operational performance.
  • Reaction pathways: designing different sequences of chemical transformations to reach the required product.
  • Process economics: assessing the cost and practical commercial implications of a route, not just whether a reaction works in a laboratory.

The company says this work is aimed at improving cost efficiency, yield, cycle time, safety, sustainability and the ability to scale a process commercially. Those are stated objectives in the funding coverage, not independently measured results or customer-validated performance disclosed with the announcement.

Which industries NuSynth is targeting

NuSynth has named two initial sectors: pharmaceuticals and electronics chemicals. Both depend on repeatable, high-purity chemistry and can face difficult scale-up, safety and cost constraints. The announcement does not identify specific pharmaceutical ingredients, electronics-chemical products, customers or commercial deployments.

What the founders and investor said

Poorvank Purohit, NuSynth’s co-founder and chief executive, said: “Over the last two decades, India has built significant strength at manufacturing established chemistry. We believe the next chapter will be defined by our ability to innovate on the underlying chemistry itself.”

Shruti Srivastava, a partner at Avaana Capital, said: “The next phase of India’s growth in high-performance industrial chemistry will increasingly be shaped by the ability to originate proprietary synthesis pathways that are fundamentally more efficient and commercially scalable over time.”

The reports also do not establish a released software product, a named customer list, commercial-scale deployment or independently audited process improvements. The company’s current public description is best understood as a technology and industrial R&D strategy supported by new seed capital.

Why the round matters for investors and the sector

For NuSynth, the round supplies early capital for a technically intensive business in which useful intellectual property may reside in process know-how, proprietary routes and the ability to reproduce them at scale. That differs from a typical consumer-software seed story: progress is likely to depend on experimental work, process validation and industrial scale-up before revenue or broad deployment can be assessed.

For India’s chemicals ecosystem, the stated ambition is to compete not only by manufacturing established molecules but also by originating more efficient synthesis pathways. Whether that ambition translates into commercial advantage will depend on evidence that the routes perform consistently outside the laboratory, meet safety and quality requirements, and deliver economics attractive to industrial customers.
