During the U.S. Black Friday 2025 sale, selected Nintendo Switch games—including Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom—were reported at discounts of up to 50% at particular retailers. Those prices were limited to specific titles and sellers; they are historical offers, not confirmed current deals.
Which Mario and Zelda games were included?
HotHardware’s November 23, 2025 report covered select first-party Switch games discounted on Amazon. Named titles included Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, and Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, with some offers reaching up to half off. The discount did not apply uniformly across either franchise.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - World Edition | $56.99 | Buy on Amazon |

In particular, HotHardware said The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom were not on the Amazon sale list it reviewed. A headline mentioning Mario and Zelda should not be read as evidence that every game in those series was discounted. See HotHardware’s November 23 coverage.
What did Nintendo and retailers report?
Nintendo’s November 11, 2025 U.S. holiday announcement listed suggested prices for selected physical Switch games at participating retailers, including Nintendo’s official U.S. stores. Suggested prices are not the same as a guaranteed retailer price or a live quote.

GameSpot’s November 24 report described Walmart offers of $30 on several games that were often priced at $60, while noting that prices and stock varied across retailers. It also reported Nintendo Switch Sports at $30 against $50—not a 50% discount. These are snapshots from the 2025 sale, not present-day price comparisons. Read GameSpot’s November 24 report. When did the Black Friday offers run?
The digital and physical promotions had separate timing. Nintendo said its eShop Cyber Deals sale ran from November 20 through December 3, 2025, ending at 11:59 p.m. PT. It separately said selected retailers would begin physical-game offers on November 23. Neither window establishes that those offers remain available.

How to check a game deal before buying
For a current purchase, compare the exact game and edition, seller, format, price, stock, and console compatibility. A historical discount—or Nintendo’s suggested price—does not confirm today’s price or availability.
- Match the title and edition: Confirm the listing is for the game and physical or digital edition you intend to buy.
- Check the seller and stock: The same game could have different prices or availability across retailers during the 2025 sale.
- Compare like with like: Distinguish a retailer’s listed price from Nintendo’s suggested retail price; do not assume every listing represents the same discount.
- Verify the current offer: Check the retailer’s live listing for price and availability before purchasing.
Will these Switch games work on Switch 2?
Nintendo says Switch 2 supports compatible physical and digital Nintendo Switch games, but cautions that some titles may not be supported or fully compatible. Check Nintendo’s compatibility information for the specific game rather than assuming every Switch title works without qualification.
