Yes—Nintendo announced on June 30, 2025, that Canadian pricing would change for the original Nintendo Switch family and related products. The announcement did not give new prices or say how much any individual item would change. It excluded Nintendo Switch 2 systems, accessories and software.
Which Nintendo products are covered?
Nintendo of Canada said pricing would change for the original Switch family and products in Canada, citing market conditions. The announcement named these categories:
- Nintendo Switch OLED Model, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite systems
- Physical and digital Nintendo Switch games
- Switch accessories and amiibo
- Nintendo Switch Online memberships
The announcement did not state that every item in those categories would change by the same amount—or specify whether each individual price would rise or fall.
How much did prices change?
Nintendo’s June 30, 2025 announcement gave no new prices, price differences or percentage increases. It said Canadian pricing information would be shared on August 1. For a useful comparison, check a dated listing for the exact product and seller: the announcement alone cannot establish its old or new price.

A listing on Nintendo Canada’s store is one reference point, but it is not a full price history. For example, the site showed Super Smash Bros. Ultimate at $84.99 and Stardew Valley at $16.99. Those are store listings, not evidence of the amount or cause of a 2025 change. Check Nintendo Canada’s store for current listings.
Does the change include Nintendo Switch 2?
No. Nintendo explicitly excluded Nintendo Switch 2 systems, accessories and software from the June 2025 Canadian update. A later policy for some Switch 2 games is separate: Nintendo Support says that beginning in May 2026, new Nintendo-published digital titles exclusive to Switch 2 will have an MSRP different from their physical versions, starting with preorders for Yoshi and the Mysterious Book. This is a distinct digital-versus-physical pricing policy, not an extension of the 2025 original Switch update. Read Nintendo Support’s explanation of Switch 2 game pricing.

Why can prices differ between stores?
Nintendo’s suggested pricing and a retailer’s actual listing are not necessarily the same. Nintendo Support says retail partners set their own prices for physical and digital games, and prices may vary by title. When comparing a game, note the seller, format and date as well as the amount; a retailer’s price does not by itself prove a Nintendo-wide price change.
Nintendo’s June 30, 2025 statement was about Canadian pricing and said the change was based on market conditions. It did not identify a specific cause beyond that wording. Read Nintendo of Canada’s announcement.
