NinjaTrader is the more integrated choice if you want a futures-focused platform alongside a brokerage option; Quantower is built around flexible connections and modular licensing. Neither is a universal winner: compare the broker and data connections available to you, the tools you need, your device workflow, and the full cost of trading.
What are you comparing?
NinjaTrader and Quantower are trading platforms, but their pricing models bundle different things. NinjaTrader, LLC develops the software; NinjaTrader Clearing, LLC is a separate futures commission merchant (FCM) that holds funds and clears trades. The commissions below apply to brokerage accounts cleared through NinjaTrader Clearing, not automatically to every broker connection used with NinjaTrader Desktop. NinjaTrader’s pricing page describes the entity distinction and account terms.
Quantower’s reviewed materials describe a platform license and connections to brokers, exchanges, and data feeds, rather than one universal brokerage price. Its license does not include third-party market data, which must be costed separately. Quantower’s pricing page states this qualification.
How do their costs compare?
The figures below are vendor-listed rates on current pages whose publication year is not stated. They are not a complete estimate of a trader’s total cost.

#1 Best Overall
| Option | Platform or plan charge | Commission per side | Additional costs to account for |
|---|---|---|---|
| NinjaTrader Free | $0 monthly | $0.39 per Micro contract; $1.29 per Standard contract | Exchange, clearing, and NFA fees apply. |
| NinjaTrader Monthly | $99 per month | $0.29 per Micro contract; $0.99 per Standard contract | Exchange, clearing, and NFA fees apply. |
| NinjaTrader Lifetime | $1,499 one time | $0.09 per Micro contract; $0.59 per Standard contract | Exchange, clearing, and NFA fees apply. |
| Quantower | License term and feature package vary; see the current vendor page. | Not stated as a universal rate; brokerage and execution costs depend on the connected provider. | Third-party market data is purchased separately; check provider, routing, and exchange charges where applicable. |
NinjaTrader’s plan rates are for accounts cleared by NinjaTrader Clearing. For Quantower, a license price alone does not establish the cost of data or execution. Compare the expected number of contracts and sides traded, subscription duration, market-data fees, and any brokerage or routing charges. A lower per-side commission can matter to an active trader, while a recurring subscription or one-time license may matter more to someone trading less often; calculate both against your own expected activity rather than assuming one plan is cheaper.
Which platform fits each workflow?
NinjaTrader: integrated futures workflow
NinjaTrader describes itself as a futures trading platform and brokerage, with charting, depth-of-market order entry, order-flow analysis, and automated strategy tools across desktop, web, and mobile. Its vendor-listed features also include market replay, simulated trading, desktop multi-monitor support, and a C#-based customization framework. It reports offering more than 100 futures contracts; that is a vendor-reported count, not an independent measurement. See NinjaTrader’s platform overview.
Rank #2
The platform also describes support for third-party providers and brokers on Desktop, with a multi-broker add-on described separately. Confirm that the exact connection you need is supported for your account and country before choosing a plan. NinjaTrader’s Desktop help guide is a starting point for platform details.
Quantower: configurable connections and features
Quantower emphasizes connectivity and configurable feature access. It reports connections to more than 60 brokers, exchanges, and data feeds, and supports simultaneous connections; the number is the vendor’s current reported count, not an independently dated comparison. Its feature set includes charting and analytics, options tools, and order-execution features, with volume-analysis and other advanced extensions available as paid options. The tools available to you can depend on the license package and provider connection. See Quantower’s feature overview and its connections page.

Quantower’s download page lists a Windows download. The reviewed materials do not establish an equivalent web-and-mobile workflow, so verify device support in current documentation if trading away from a Windows computer is important to you. Quantower’s download page provides the current listed download.
How should you choose?
- Check the exact connection first. Confirm that your intended broker, exchange, and data feed work with the platform, account type, and country you use. A vendor’s broad connection count does not guarantee availability for every user.
- List the tools you will actually use. Identify whether you need depth of market, replay, order flow, simulation, automated strategies, options tools, or volume analysis. Check whether each is included, requires a paid package or add-on, or depends on a particular provider.
- Price the whole arrangement. Include platform licensing, market data, brokerage, routing, exchange, clearing, NFA, and per-side commissions where applicable. For NinjaTrader’s listed brokerage rates, include the additional exchange, clearing, and NFA fees; for Quantower, add the separately purchased market data and provider charges.
- Match it to your devices and setup. NinjaTrader describes desktop, browser, and mobile access, as well as desktop multi-monitor support. Quantower’s reviewed download page lists Windows; check current documentation for any other device requirement.
- Test the workflow before committing. Use available simulation or replay features to learn the interface and order-entry process. Simulated results are hypothetical and do not predict live trading results; NinjaTrader warns that actual results can differ materially.
What the comparison does not establish
The vendor materials reviewed do not provide a dated, independent head-to-head performance test or evidence that either platform produces faster execution, better fills, or higher profitability. Feature descriptions and connection counts cannot answer those questions. Your result depends on the connected broker and data service, your setup, and market conditions.
