Verdict: The Nike Zoom Pegasus Turbo is a real shoe with a useful design history, but the available evidence here is not enough to recommend it on fit, comfort, durability, or running performance. Nike says the original arrived in 2018 with ZoomX foam and without a carbon-fiber plate. Pegasus Turbo Next Nature is a separate later model with specific recycled-material claims. If you are considering a purchase, first confirm which generation a listing actually sells—and evaluate its price and condition as an older shoe, not as a current performance benchmark.
What this review can—and cannot—tell you
This is a product-identity and buying-context review, not a wear test. The available evidence establishes Nike’s stated design history and Next Nature’s materials, but it does not establish independent or firsthand findings on fit, comfort, durability, weight, pace suitability, or ride. Those are central questions for a running-shoe review, so they should not be answered by inference from the foam name or product description.
Nike’s April 4, 2022 newsroom account explains the original model’s design premise. It is evidence of what Nike says it intended, not independent proof that the shoe performs a particular way.
Original Pegasus Turbo: what Nike says it was designed to do
Nike says the first Peg Turbo was introduced in 2018. In its account, Nike retained ZoomX foam but left out the carbon-fiber plate associated with the Vaporfly context, aiming for a system suited to daily training. That history distinguishes the original Turbo from a plated shoe; it does not by itself establish how the Turbo feels or performs for a particular runner.

- Test group insights showed that runners wanted a versatile shoe that was responsibly manufactured and more foam underfoot The Nike Peg Turbo Next Nature convinces with a midsole made from at least 55% recycled ZoomX foam
- Nike has developed the Peg Turbo Next Nature with previous sustainability-oriented shoe insights like Air Zoom AlphaFly Next Nature
- The Nike Pegasus Turbo Next Nature is made from at least 50% recycled material by weight and uses 100% recycled Flyknit yarns on the upper to create a more secure fit
Do not confuse the Turbo’s history with the much longer history of the Pegasus franchise. Nike’s 2026 account of the Pegasus line discusses early franchise sales and design philosophy. Those figures and observations concern the Pegasus franchise, not Pegasus Turbo sales or Turbo performance, so they are not evidence for this review.
Pegasus Turbo Next Nature is a different version
Next Nature is not simply another name for every shoe called Pegasus Turbo. Nike’s 2022 release gives this version its own material specifications:
Rank #2
- Nike Men's Air Zoom Pegasus 39 Road Running Shoes
- Flywire technology
- Nike React Technology
- At least 50% recycled material by weight.
- At least 55% recycled ZoomX foam in the midsole.
- 100% recycled Flyknit yarn in the upper.
- Nike says its solution-dyed yarn process saves 70 liters of water per kilogram of yarn produced.
These are Nike-published claims about Pegasus Turbo Next Nature, not the original 2018 Turbo or every Turbo listing. They describe materials and a manufacturing-process claim, not tested running performance.
How to assess an older Turbo listing
Availability varies by market and seller, and a product page is not a guarantee of current stock. Nike Japan’s listing for the men’s Pegasus Turbo Next Nature, style DM3413-001, describes ZoomX foam, Flyknit technology, and waffle-inspired outsole tread; the listing reported the product unavailable. That regional listing does not establish availability elsewhere. Check the Nike Japan listing only as a model-identification reference, not as proof of current inventory.

- Let the Nike Pegasus Turbo help you track the tough miles. Made with at least 50% recycled content per total product weight, this esteemed stallion gives you a stretchy, correct feel. Complete with lighter, more responsive foam, it's made to help you boost tempo without sacrificing comfort as you move toward better staff.
- A more responsive Nike ZoomX foam is responsive and lightweight, giving you bounce with every step. Shaped like a rocker, the foam provides support for all 3 phases of a runner's stride. It offers flexibility when your foot is raised off the ground, a smooth ride when your foot moves forward, and cushioning in contact with the ground.
- Lightweight, supportive Flyknit technology uses high-strength fibers to create a lightweight upper with targeted areas of support, stretch, and breathability. Provides safety and comfort
- Waffle inspired tread traction on the outsole provides traction.
Before buying, verify the shoe itself rather than relying on a broad search result for “Nike Zoom Pegasus Turbo running shoes.” Use this checklist:
- Generation: Confirm whether the listing is for the original Pegasus Turbo or Pegasus Turbo Next Nature. Look for the full product name and, when available, the style code.
- Size and condition: Confirm the stated size, whether the shoes are new or used, and whether the listing shows the actual pair. For a used pair, ask about wear and storage rather than assuming a product photo reflects its condition.
- Seller and return terms: Check who is selling the shoe, whether the seller is reputable, and whether returns are allowed. These details matter especially for discontinued or older inventory.
- Live stock and total cost: Confirm that the size is actually available and check the final price, shipping, and any taxes before purchase. No current market price is established here.
- Performance claims: Treat claims about fit, ride, durability, weight, and suitability for a particular pace as unverified unless the seller or reviewer supports them with model-specific evidence.
Is the Nike Zoom Pegasus Turbo still worth buying?
There is not enough evidence here to give a performance-based yes or no. The case for considering one is that Nike’s stated 2018 design combined ZoomX foam with no carbon-fiber plate for a daily-training concept. The case for caution is that the evidence does not establish how an individual pair fits, feels, wears, or compares with shoes currently available. For Next Nature, the recycled-material specifications are documented by Nike, but they should not be mistaken for proof of comfort or durability.

- Upgraded breathable engineered mesh upper
- ReactX foam midsole surrounds forefoot and heel Air Zoom units for an energized ride.
- Signature waffle-inspired rubber outsole for traction and flexibility
- Plush collar tongue and sockliner for a secure and comfortable fit
Make the decision on the exact generation, the actual pair’s condition, your ability to return it, and the price you are being asked to pay. If you need dependable fit or performance guidance, seek a model-specific review based on disclosed wear testing rather than relying on the name or material claims alone.
