Night Media announced a $20 million creator-backed venture fund in March 2021. The fund, now identified by Night Ventures as NV1, targeted seed and Series A startups in consumer markets, gaming—especially user-generated-content businesses—and the creator economy. Night Ventures says NV1 was fully deployed in 2024.

What was Night Media’s 2021 venture fund?

Night Media, the management company associated with MrBeast, announced its debut venture fund in March 2021. TechCrunch reported that the fund had $20 million in capital commitments from creators managed by Night Media and other social media stars. Night Ventures’ current fund page identifies the vehicle as NV1, a $20 million seed and Series A fund. TechCrunch’s 2021 report and the Night Ventures fund page describe the announcement and fund.

“We’re not going to raise because we can. That’s never been the way we think or operate,” Night Media CEO Reed Duchscher told TechCrunch when discussing whether the company would automatically raise more capital.

What did the fund plan to invest in?

The 2021 plan focused on startups serving consumers, gaming businesses—particularly those built around user-generated content—and the creator economy. Duchscher described initial checks of up to $300,000. That figure was a reported maximum for initial investments, not a guarantee that every company would receive that amount.

TechCrunch’s announcement named Lolli, Pearpop, and Italic among contemporaneous portfolio examples. Night Ventures’ current NV1 page lists companies including Feastables, Italic, MoonPay, and Outtake, alongside others. These are portfolio examples, not evidence of the fund’s returns; the sources do not establish investment performance.

What is NV1’s status now?

Night Ventures says NV1 was fully deployed in 2024. In fund terms, that means the capital was allocated; it does not establish that the investments were sold, that the fund returned capital to investors, or that it produced a profit. The official NV1 page describes it as a $20 million seed and Series A fund and gives its current portfolio listing.

How is NightCap different from NV1?

NightCap was a separate vehicle announced in 2022 by Night Media and The Chernin Group. Axios described it as a growth-equity effort intended to acquire businesses and pair them with creators. That differs from NV1’s seed and Series A venture investing in startups.

NightCap Night Media and The Chernin Group growth-equity vehicle focused on acquiring businesses and pairing them with creators. Axios reported the vehicle in 2022; the cited report does not state a deployment status.

Does Night Media’s $70 million financing create a successor fund?

No successor venture fund is identified in Night Media’s February 2026 announcement. The company said it raised $70 million in funding led by StepStone Group, with Founders Fund, PagsGroup, K5Global, and House Capital participating. Night described the financing as support for company expansion through strategic acquisitions and growth in gaming, sports, music, and live events—not as a new NV1-style fund. The distinction matters: company financing supports Night Media’s business, while a venture fund invests capital in portfolio companies.

Night’s February 2026 announcement describes the funding and planned expansion.
