You do not need Amex Platinum to use every lounge or rest option at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). Depending on your airline, ticket, status, membership or eligible pass, you may qualify for an airline lounge; Priority Pass lists a private rest suite and a spa experience. The key is to verify that your specific benefit and itinerary qualify before you make plans.
What can you use at Newark without Amex Platinum?
Newark lists United Club locations in Terminals A and C, as well as an Admirals Club and Delta Sky Club in Terminal A. Its Terminal A information also says Air Canada passengers may access the United Club there, but tells travelers to check eligibility with their airline. Being in the right terminal or holding a boarding pass for a flight from Newark does not, by itself, establish lounge access. The airport’s lounge directory says purchasable access may be available subject to availability; it does not establish a price or guarantee entry.

Priority Pass currently lists two different kinds of experiences at EWR: Minute Suites in Terminal C and Be Relax Spa in Terminal A. A Priority Pass listing is not proof that a particular credit card provides access to that location. Check both the experience’s terms and the benefit terms from your own card issuer.

Airline lounges: access depends on your trip
Terminal A
The airport lists American Airlines Admirals Club, Delta Sky Club and United Club in Terminal A. For any of them, confirm the rules for your exact itinerary, operating carrier, cabin, status, membership or pass with the airline or lounge. The airport specifically notes that Air Canada passengers may access the Terminal A United Club, but directs passengers to their airline for current eligibility requirements. That exception should not be read as general access for all passengers traveling from Terminal A. Newark’s Terminal A page has the airport’s location and airline information.
In practical terms, first identify the airline operating your flight—not just the company that sold the ticket—and then ask what that flight qualifies for. A lounge’s presence in your terminal is useful for planning, but it is not an entry credential. Likewise, a ticket for a Newark departure does not establish that you can enter any lounge in the airport. Because eligibility can depend on the exact itinerary and benefit, check before traveling rather than assuming that a particular cabin label, airline alliance, or card will be enough.
Terminal C
Newark lists United Club locations at gates C74 and C123, plus a United Polaris Lounge in Terminal C. The airport describes Polaris as an exclusive lounge for long-haul international business-class passengers. That description is not a complete eligibility rule for every ticket or itinerary; check the rules for the flight you are taking rather than assuming that any business-class ticket qualifies. The Terminal C page provides the airport’s lounge and terminal details.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThere is a meaningful distinction between a United Club and the Polaris Lounge: the airport identifies Polaris as a specialized option for long-haul international business-class travel. Do not treat the Polaris description as proof of access based only on having a premium-cabin ticket. Ask United to confirm whether your specific flight and ticket meet the current rules, and make sure you are checking the correct lounge rather than relying on a general search for “United lounge.”
Paid entry and one-time passes
The airport lounge directory says travelers can approach lounge staff about purchasable access, subject to availability. A secondary directory reported a $59 United Club day-pass price at Newark and marked its information verified in September 2026. That is a secondary report, not a United-confirmed current price or a promise that a pass will be sold when you arrive. Treat it as a lead to verify, not a price to budget as guaranteed. The secondary directory’s Newark listing is the source of that report.

United PerksPlus terms surfaced for one-time passes say they are subject to space availability and may not be bought or sold. This does not establish that every traveler can purchase a pass or use one at a particular time. Ask United or lounge staff whether a pass or paid entry is currently available and whether your flight meets the applicable rules. United PerksPlus terms provide the stated pass conditions.
If paid entry is your fallback, contact the lounge or airline before making a detour or counting on it as part of your budget. Ask whether access is being sold that day, whether capacity limits apply, what the current charge is, and whether your itinerary qualifies. A reported price is not a reservation, and a one-time pass is not a guarantee of entry if the lounge is full. The available airport information does not establish a current universal price for EWR lounge access.
Priority Pass options are not conventional airline lounges
Priority Pass’s EWR experiences should be compared with airline lounges for what they actually provide. Minute Suites is a private room for rest, not a traditional lounge; Be Relax is a spa listing. Neither listing should be read as Priority Pass access to the United Club, Admirals Club or Delta Sky Club at Newark. If your goal is food, seating and a conventional lounge environment, confirm airline-lounge eligibility separately.
Minute Suites in Terminal C
Priority Pass lists Minute Suites after security near Gate C15 and shows it as open 24 hours. This is a private rest space rather than a conventional lounge. The listing says one lounge-visit entitlement covers a one-hour stay; each subsequent hour costs US$40, with time beyond the first hour charged in 15-minute increments. Up to three accompanying guests may use the same suite at no extra charge, subject to availability. These terms and charges are from the Priority Pass listing current in October 2026 and may change. Check the Minute Suites listing for current terms.
That one-hour entitlement makes the suite a different value calculation from a lounge visit. If you need a place to rest privately for an hour, it may fit; if you expect to stay longer, include the US$40 charge for each subsequent hour in your comparison, remembering that extensions beyond an hour are listed in 15-minute increments. The listing allows up to three accompanying guests in the same suite at no extra charge, but the suite is still subject to availability. Do not assume that this guest provision means your card issuer will cover every guest’s visit in the same way as the suite’s listed use terms.

Before counting on this benefit, verify that your specific Priority Pass membership works at this location. The listing warns that access through some American Express and Capital One cards may not be available here. It also does not mean that every Priority Pass card has the same visit allowance, guest rules or fees: those can depend on the issuer and membership. Ask your card issuer whether this location is covered, whether your visit will incur a charge and how accompanying guests are treated.

Be Relax Spa in Terminal A
Priority Pass lists Be Relax Spa at Gate 7 in Terminal A and shows hours of 09:00–21:00. Its listing does not establish which card products cover the experience, which treatments are available or what additional fees may apply. Check the live listing and your issuer’s terms before making this part of your airport plan. The EWR Priority Pass directory lists the spa and other experiences.
A spa experience is not interchangeable with a lounge: the listing does not confirm that a particular treatment is included in a card benefit, or that there are no extra charges. Confirm the exact service, eligibility and any payment required with both Priority Pass and your issuer. Also check the listed hours against your departure time; the current directory listing shows 09:00–21:00, unlike Minute Suites’ 24-hour listing.
How to choose the right option for your itinerary
- Start with the flight. Note your operating airline, departure terminal, cabin and any relevant airline status or membership. Ask the airline or lounge whether that exact trip qualifies; do not infer access from a same-terminal departure or an airport listing.
- Check the benefit itself. If you have a lounge pass or Priority Pass, confirm that it is valid for the specific location and experience. Check whether entry is complimentary or charged, and whether guests count against an allowance or incur a fee.
- Confirm availability and price. For a day pass or paid entry, ask the lounge whether it is currently offered and whether capacity restrictions apply. Do not rely on the reported $59 United Club price as a confirmed or guaranteed current offer.
- Compare location with your gate. Identify the departure terminal and gate area, then consider the transfer and return time. A lounge or rest space in another terminal may not be worth the detour.
- Match the facility to your need. Choose an airline lounge if your airline access qualifies and you want that lounge experience; consider Minute Suites if a private rest space suits your plans and your entitlement covers it; consider the spa only after confirming that the experience and any fees work for your benefit.
It also helps to compare the whole cost, not just the advertised or reported entry price. A paid airline-lounge visit, a Priority Pass visit charged by your issuer, and a Minute Suites extension are different expenses for different facilities. Ask about guest charges and extra time as well as the basic visit. If the visit is short, a transfer between terminals can consume much of the time you hoped to spend inside.
Can you visit a lounge in another terminal?
Newark describes an airside shuttle connecting Terminals A and C after security. On the Terminal C page, the airport locates the shuttle near C71 and between A28 and A29. This connection may make a different terminal reachable without exiting security, but it does not grant lounge eligibility or remove the need to allow time to get back to your gate. Check the airport’s Terminal C information and weigh the transfer against your departure gate and boarding time.

For a short connection or a departure close to boarding, the practical value of a lounge visit may be limited even if you qualify. For a longer wait, compare the time needed to reach the facility and return with how long you can actually use it. In particular, a one-hour Minute Suites entitlement may be a poor fit if the transfer and boarding schedule leave little time in the suite.
Plan around the flight you must board, not just the facility you want to visit. Check the shuttle’s current operation and the terminal information on the day of travel, then leave enough time to return to your departure gate. The airside connection described by the airport is a transport option between A and C; it does not convert one terminal’s lounge into a guaranteed option for every passenger or every itinerary.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What to verify before you leave for the airport
- Eligibility: Is entry based on your operating airline, ticket cabin, status, membership, pass or card-specific benefit?
- Location: Is the experience in your departure terminal, and can you reach it airside without jeopardizing your boarding schedule?
- Capacity: Does the lounge currently accept paid entry or one-time passes, and could access be restricted when you arrive?
- Cost: Will your visit be charged, how are guests handled, and what are the charges for extra time or services?
- Current details: Have you checked the airline, lounge, airport or issuer information close to travel, rather than relying on an old listing or an unconfirmed reported price?
For a Priority Pass experience, check the location’s live listing and the exact terms attached to your membership, especially if the membership comes through a bank card. For an airline lounge, confirm rules with the operating airline or lounge staff. If you are considering a United Club day pass, ask about the current offer and capacity rather than assuming that the secondary directory’s $59 figure remains available. These checks can prevent a terminal detour or an unexpected charge.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I get into a Newark airport lounge without Amex Platinum?
Possibly. Newark lists airline lounges in Terminals A and C, and eligibility may depend on your operating airline, ticket, cabin, status, membership or pass. The airport also lists Priority Pass experiences at Minute Suites and Be Relax Spa. Check your exact benefit and itinerary; having a Newark boarding pass alone does not establish access.
Does Priority Pass get me into United Club at Newark?
The EWR Priority Pass directory lists Minute Suites in Terminal C and Be Relax Spa in Terminal A, not United Club. Check United’s own access rules separately if you want an airline lounge.

Can I buy a United Club day pass at Newark, and how much is it?
The airport lounge directory says purchasable access may be available subject to availability. A secondary directory reported a $59 United Club day-pass price at Newark, but that is not a United-confirmed current price or a guarantee that passes will be sold. Ask United or lounge staff about current price, eligibility and capacity.
How long does a Priority Pass visit cover at Minute Suites?
The current listing says one lounge-visit entitlement covers one hour. Each subsequent hour costs US$40, with time beyond the first hour charged in 15-minute increments. Up to three accompanying guests may use the same suite at no extra charge, subject to availability. Confirm your own issuer’s visit and guest terms.
Are Minute Suites and Be Relax regular airport lounges?
No. Minute Suites is a private rest space, while Be Relax is a spa experience. Their Priority Pass listings do not mean that you have access to an airline lounge, and the spa listing does not establish which treatments or extra fees are covered by your benefit.

Can I travel between Terminals A and C after security to use a lounge?
Newark describes an airside shuttle linking Terminals A and C. The connection does not provide lounge eligibility, and you still need time to return to your departure gate. Check the airport’s current terminal information and weigh the transfer against boarding time.
The Bottom Line
Amex Platinum is not the only possible route to a lounge or rest experience at Newark, but access depends on the exact flight and benefit. Start with the airline’s rules, then check any pass or card benefit against the specific EWR location. Priority Pass lists Minute Suites and Be Relax—not the airport’s airline lounges—and Minute Suites includes only one hour before listed extension charges. Confirm eligibility, capacity, location and current costs directly before making a detour or relying on entry.
