Why the game moved from July 16
The WNBA said the game scheduled for July 16 was postponed because mechanical issues with the Liberty’s charter flight caused travel delays. It was rescheduled for Monday, July 20, at 7 p.m. CT (8 p.m. ET). Dallas said tickets for the original date would be honored at the rescheduled game. See the WNBA postponement announcement for the original scheduling notice.

What the teams’ postseason status means for the matchup
By the WNBA’s October 2026 semifinal preview, Dallas had lost its first-round series to Golden State, while New York had advanced after becoming the first No. 8 seed in league history to eliminate a No. 1 seed. New York was listed against Atlanta in the semifinals, beginning October 4. The WNBA semifinal preview describes those separate postseason paths; it does not establish a new Liberty–Wings date.
