They are not directly interchangeable: Rhea routes swaps through AMM pools, while Orderly supports orderbook trading, including perpetual futures. There is no dependable, permanent winner for liquidity, fees, or token coverage. Check the exact market, route, fee, and executable quote when you trade.
How Rhea and Orderly compare
The key distinction is how each venue executes a trade. Rhea’s NEAR DEX uses pools, including stable and concentrated-liquidity designs. Orderly supplies orderbook infrastructure and a liquidity layer; users access it through interfaces built on top of the infrastructure. A builder’s available markets and fees can differ from another builder’s.
| What to compare | Rhea Finance (formerly Ref Finance) | Orderly |
|---|---|---|
| Trading model | AMM pools, including stable pools and discretized concentrated-liquidity pools; smart routing can select or combine routes. | Orderbook infrastructure. Available trading products and markets depend on the builder interface. |
| Fees | Pool-specific; pool creators can set fees. Check the fee for the actual pool or route. | Set by the broker or builder interface. Check its fee schedule for the selected market and product. |
| NEAR-market examples | The Rhea site displayed NEAR/USDC and NEAR/USDt concentrated-liquidity pools in the Oct. 7, 2026 snapshot, alongside other pool types. This is not a guarantee that those pools, fees, or routes remain unchanged. | The Orderly SDK documentation includes SPOT_NEAR_USDC as an example symbol. An SDK example does not establish that the market is currently live or available in every builder. |
| Liquidity check | Compare the quote and route for your trade size; pool TVL alone does not show the output you will receive. | Check the selected interface’s live market and orderbook depth. Orderly’s aggregate dashboard metrics are not NEAR spot-pair depth. |
| Product-specific risks | For a swap, set an acceptable slippage limit and review the minimum output or maximum input. | Perpetual futures involve collateral, funding, and liquidation mechanics that do not apply to a basic spot swap. |
Rhea’s white paper describes the project as the evolution of Ref Finance and Burrow Finance after a merger and rebrand. Ref names may still appear in contracts, SDKs, or older URLs, so seeing “Ref” in technical material does not by itself mean it is a separate current exchange to compare with Rhea.
What Rhea’s pool types mean for a swap
AMM and stable pools
Rhea supports permissionless pool creation, including pools for duplicate token pairs, and pool creators can set pool-level fees. Stable pools are intended for strongly correlated assets. The pool type and fee matter: two routes involving the same tokens can have different costs and execution characteristics.

Concentrated liquidity
In a discretized concentrated-liquidity pool, liquidity providers allocate liquidity within a price range. The available depth therefore depends on where liquidity is placed and where the market price sits. A pool’s total value locked (TVL) does not, by itself, tell you how much liquidity is available near the price for your particular trade.
Routing and slippage controls
Rhea says its smart routing considers pool status, liquidity depth, and fee configuration to choose or combine routes. That is a protocol description, not an independent performance comparison. Before confirming, inspect the route, rate, fee, and expected output. Use the swap’s minimum-output or maximum-input setting to define the slippage you will accept; a tighter limit may cause a transaction not to complete if the price moves beyond it.

How to check supported tokens and markets
A token appearing in metadata or an SDK is not proof that it has a liquid direct market. Support can depend on the network, exact token contract, route, and interface. Tickers alone can be ambiguous, so verify the asset identity as well as its symbol.
- On Rhea, select the network and both assets in the live swap interface. Confirm the token identity and whether the trade is a direct pair or a routed swap. The Ref SDK documentation describes a token-metadata method for populating selectors, but a metadata list is not a complete current list of tradable markets.
- Check the displayed route and quote. Review the pool or pools used, fee information, rate, expected output, and slippage setting. If no route is offered, do not assume that a token’s presence in a selector means it can be traded against the asset you chose.
- On Orderly, use the specific builder interface you intend to trade through. Confirm that it currently offers the exact market and product—spot or perpetual—and consult that interface’s fee schedule. Orderly’s SDK provides methods for available symbols, symbol rules, and current fee information, but interface availability still needs to be confirmed.
- Verify the asset and network before approving a transaction or funding an account. A matching ticker is not enough to establish that two listings refer to the same token contract or network.
The Rhea site’s Oct. 7, 2026 snapshot displayed NEAR/USDC and NEAR/USDt examples, but those listings are time-sensitive. Orderly’s SDK symbol example is not evidence of universal availability. Treat both as prompts to check the live interface, not as lasting token lists.

How to compare fees and liquidity for your trade
There is no sound way to label one venue cheapest or deepest from a general fee claim, a TVL figure, or an aggregate dashboard. Compare the same pair, trade direction, and input size at roughly the same time, then assess what you would actually receive.
- For a Rhea swap: record the pool or route, pool fee tier or route fees shown, quoted output, and estimated price impact or slippage. Include any applicable network cost separately.
- For an Orderly spot trade: check the selected builder’s fee for that market and the orderbook depth around the price. The interface, not Orderly’s protocol-wide dashboard, is where you confirm the market and applicable fee.
- For an Orderly perpetual: compare the relevant trading fee and funding terms, and account for collateral and liquidation risk. These costs and risks are not equivalent to an AMM swap fee.
- Keep the measurement and timestamp with any figures. TVL, 24-hour volume, quoted output, and orderbook depth measure different things. A quote is tied to its trade size and time; a pool’s TVL does not predict a particular transaction’s execution price.
Rhea’s displayed pool data and fees, Orderly’s market data, and builder fee schedules can change. The Orderly dashboard’s aggregate volume, open-market count, or TVL describes the broader system, not comparable depth for a particular NEAR spot pair. Without contemporaneous, matched quotes or depth measurements, a cross-venue liquidity ranking is not established.

Which venue fits the trade?
- Choose a Rhea route to investigate for a NEAR-native token swap when the live interface offers the exact assets and the quoted route, fee, and output meet your requirements. Check the pool type and slippage limit before submitting.
- Consider an Orderly-powered interface when you want an orderbook market and that builder currently lists the market you need. Confirm its fees and order rules; for perpetuals, understand funding, collateral, and liquidation before trading.
- Do not choose by name, token count, or headline TVL alone. Confirm exact token contracts and live availability, then compare the actual route or orderbook for your trade size.
These are different trading models, not two identical exchanges with stable, directly comparable fee schedules or liquidity rankings. The useful comparison is the live execution available for the specific asset, product, interface, and trade size.
