The official results identify the entrant as Mt Barker County Bakehouse, WA; PerthNow and the later official listing use “Mt Barker Country Bakery.”
What Mt Barker won in 2025
The official 2025 results place the Beef Bourguignon first in both Overall Gourmet Pie and Gourmet Pie Red Meat. PerthNow’s 6 October 2025 report says the bakery first won the red-meat section, then took the overall gourmet-pie title.
Mt Barker also had a strong result in another category: its roasted cauliflower pie with black truffle and provolone cheese sauce won Vegetarian/Vegan and placed runner-up overall gourmet pie, according to the official competition results.
How the winning pie was described
PerthNow reported that owner Mick Dumbrell described the pie as beef cheeks braised until tender, with Galafrey wines used in the recipe. That is the bakery owner’s description, not a complete recipe or an independent assessment of the pie’s ingredients.

Competition context
PerthNow reported more than 1,500 entries from more than 200 bakers in the 2025 competition; these are the publication’s reported figures, not independently audited counts. The report says the awards were presented on September 11 at an event held alongside Fine Food Australia in Sydney.
Dumbrell told PerthNow: “It’s an honour to be there with all the great pie makers of the country.” He also said: “To win is such a big privilege and it is great to be recognised as a producer of great pies.”

How the 2025 result differs from the latest listing
The 2025 award should not be described as the latest year’s result. The competition’s results page also lists 2026 results, where Mt Barker Country Bakery’s Beef Bourguignon is again first in Overall Gourmet Pie and Overall Red Meat Gourmet Pie. The award covered here is the bakery’s distinct 2025 win.
