Look for a soft feel, room to move, comfortable seams and waistband, and care requirements that fit your routine and budget.
What “most comfortable” meant in 2022
Comfort depends on the wearer, climate, activity, fit, and fabric sensitivities. The available 2022 findings describe preferences, not a universal winner or a controlled comparison of garments.
Cotton Incorporated’s USDA Year-End Report 2022 found that 62% of consumers described their clothing style as comfortable and 55% as casual. The report also said 56% considered their style more comfortable during 2022 than in previous years, while 37% said it was less dressy. These are reported consumer survey findings, not facts about every woman.
In a separate survey of women in the U.S. and Europe, Eastman’s March 2022 release reported that 78% selected comfort as their top priority when choosing loungewear. The company also reported that 61% were investing in more casual clothing and 44% were reducing formal clothing. These figures apply to the population surveyed and as reported by the company; they should not be read as a measure of women’s preferences today.

Can loungewear be worn outside the house?
Yes. A lounge set, joggers, or a relaxed top can suit some casual outings, as well as home wear. Whether an outfit works outside depends on its fit, appearance, weather suitability, and the setting; “loungewear” alone does not determine where it is appropriate.
What to consider in warm weather
For warm-weather choices, UNIQLO US’s April 29, 2026 guide describes linen as lightweight and breathable and distinguishes linen, linen blends, and cotton-linen blends. That is current retailer guidance, not a 2022 recommendation or an independent comparative fabric trial. Check the garment’s own fiber content and care label, and choose according to your comfort and needs.
What the 2022 findings can—and cannot—tell you
Eastman’s release also described a consumer satisfaction gap around loungewear comfort, fit, quality, drape, and durability. Because the release presented Naia™ as a commercial fiber solution, its discussion of that product should be kept separate from the survey insight; it does not establish that a particular fiber or brand is the most comfortable.
