There is no representative, date-stamped benchmark snapshot here that establishes Monero CPU hashrates specifically for 2021. The documented figures below are useful RandomX reference measurements, but they are not 2021 results or a historical leaderboard. Monero had already activated RandomX on November 30, 2019, so 2021 Monero CPU mining used RandomX rather than the earlier CryptoNight algorithm.
What can—and cannot—be said about Monero CPU hashrates in 2021
Hashrate is the number of hashes computed per second, usually shown as H/s. A defensible historical comparison needs measurements tied to a date and comparable conditions. The available sources do not provide a representative archival dataset for calendar 2021, so they cannot establish a typical 2021 rate, a reliable range, or a ranking of CPUs for that year.
That limitation matters because RandomX performance changes substantially with the processor and benchmark setup. The RandomX project’s selected-CPU table reports results using an optimal number of threads and large pages where possible. Those are reference figures under stated optimization conditions, not guaranteed results for every computer with the same CPU.
Documented RandomX reference rates
| CPU | RandomX mode | Threads | Reported hashrate | Source and conditions |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Intel Core i9-9900K | Fast | 8 | 5,770 H/s | RandomX project selected-CPU reference table; optimal threads and large pages where possible. RandomX project repository. Not established as a 2021 result. |
| Intel Core i9-9900K | Light | 16 | 1,160 H/s | RandomX project selected-CPU reference table; the mode and thread count differ from the fast-mode entry. RandomX project repository. Not established as a 2021 result. |
| AMD Ryzen 7 1700 | Fast | 8 | 4,100 H/s | RandomX project selected-CPU reference table; optimal threads and large pages where possible. RandomX project repository. Not established as a 2021 result. |
| Intel Core i7-8550U | Fast | 4 | 1,700 H/s | RandomX project selected-CPU reference table; optimal threads and large pages where possible. RandomX project repository. Not established as a 2021 result. |
The i9-9900K entries illustrate why a hashrate without its mode and thread count is incomplete: the reported fast- and light-mode rates are different measurements, not interchangeable scores.

How to interpret XMRig’s public benchmark
XMRig’s RandomX benchmark page is a live, crowd-contributed database. When viewed on October 5, 2026, it reported 2,335 unique CPUs and 89,887 samples. Those totals describe the page at that time; they are mutable current-page counts, not 2021 statistics.
The XMRig AMD results page includes a Ryzen 9 5950X entry of 12,920.73 H/s in a search-result excerpt, with five samples. The result date and its relationship to 2021 are not established, so it should not be presented as a historical 2021 figure. See the XMRig AMD benchmark listings.

A crowd-submitted result is one observation, not a promise of what every system with that processor will achieve. Before comparing entries, check the CPU model and platform, RandomX variant and mode, thread count, large-page and JIT settings, memory and operating system where stated, run duration, sample count, and date. If those details are missing or inconsistent, treat a direct comparison cautiously.
How to benchmark your own CPU consistently
XMRig’s built-in benchmark runs between one and ten million RandomX hashes, depending on the bench parameter. Its documentation distinguishes the Monero variant, described as using 2 MB of CPU cache per thread, from the Wownero variant, described as using 1 MB per thread. Use the Monero variant when the goal is a Monero-relevant comparison; do not mix variant results. See XMRig’s benchmark documentation.

- VERSATILE DESIGN: Convertible laptop-to-tablet functionality with adjustable touchscreen display, perfect for managing mining operations with enhanced control.
- MINING SOFTWARE: Pre-installed with cgminer and NiceHash, ready for immediate Monero (XMR) mining and capable of managing various mining equipment.
- EFFICIENT OPERATION: Consumes only 30 watts of power with a large capacity battery providing up to 6 hours of runtime.
- COMPLETE PACKAGE: Includes USB-C charging cable, Bluetooth mouse, and universal power supply compatible with 110V to 220V for worldwide use.
- Use one benchmark setup for every comparison. Keep the algorithm variant, mode, thread count, memory configuration, operating system, and relevant settings consistent, and record them with the result.
- Run the short benchmark for a quick check. XMRig’s guide demonstrates
xmrig.exe --bench=1M. This is useful for a quick measurement, but a short run may not reflect sustained operating conditions. - Run the longer benchmark to assess sustained behavior. The guide also demonstrates
xmrig.exe --bench=10M. XMRig Software says the longer run is closer to sustained behavior because the CPU reaches a steady thermal state. This is maintainer guidance, not an independent comparative test. - Record the context alongside H/s. Note the exact CPU, run duration, mode, threads, settings, memory and operating system where known, and date. This makes the number interpretable and repeatable.
For mining beyond a synthetic benchmark, consult Monero’s mining guide. A benchmark rate alone does not establish what a particular machine will earn or whether running it is worthwhile.

H/s measures hashing performance under a particular setup. It does not by itself establish the electricity cost, profitability, or likely earnings of mining on your machine. The reference figures above also do not answer which CPU is best to buy: they are not a dated 2021 comparison, and they do not include current hardware prices or a consistent efficiency assessment.
