If you miss the due date, check your bill for the line item “Late Fee for invoice.” You may be able to limit further problems by paying digitally or, if eligible, setting up a payment arrangement—but an arrangement does not guarantee that the late fee will be waived.
What is T-Mobile’s late fee?
T-Mobile Support says it applies “a late fee of the greater of 5% of applicable monthly charges or $10 or the maximum amount allowed under state law” when an account is not paid by the due date. The fee appears on the bill as “Late Fee for invoice.” The exact amount on an individual account depends on the applicable bill and state-law limit. T-Mobile’s late-fee guidance gives the current published formula.
Did T-Mobile increase its late fee?
A copy of a T-Mobile bill issued October 23, 2025, contains a notice that a late fee of 5% of the past-due balance or $10, whichever was greater, would apply starting November 1, 2025. That bill is evidence of the notice and effective date it describes; it does not establish the exact previous formula for every customer or prove that every account received the notice. How can you avoid or address the fee?
Pay by the due date
T-Mobile says paying by the due date can avoid a late fee. Its support page lists a free digital one-time payment option. Payment-support charges for assisted methods are separate from the late fee: T-Mobile lists $10 for payment support through Customer Care and $5 for in-store payment support. Set up AutoPay
T-Mobile also identifies AutoPay as a way to avoid late fees. However, its payment-arrangement guidance says AutoPay pauses during an active arrangement, and AutoPay discounts do not apply if an account is or becomes past due. A failed arrangement may lead to AutoPay disenrollment and possible service suspension. Request a payment arrangement if eligible
T-Mobile says eligible postpaid customers who are less than 30 days past due may be able to set up a payment arrangement. If the balance is 31 or more days overdue, T-Mobile says it must be paid before an arrangement can be initiated. An arrangement can change payment timing, but T-Mobile warns that a late fee may still apply if payment is made after the original due date. What happens if the bill remains unpaid?
T-Mobile’s terms say service may be reduced, suspended, or terminated for nonpayment, and charges may continue during suspension. Its payment-arrangement guidance lists a $20 restore fee per line, up to three lines, plus applicable taxes, when service is suspended for nonpayment. If you are unsure whether a fee was applied or what amount is due, review the latest bill and account details. For a charge or payment question you cannot resolve digitally, T-Mobile’s listed support channels carry separate payment-support fees.
