T-Mobile’s 2025 annual report, 2026 proxy materials, and a July 2026 company announcement continue to identify Gopalan as CEO.
Is Mike Sievert still at T-Mobile?
Yes. Sievert became vice chairman of T-Mobile and its board. T-Mobile said he would continue in a management and advisory role, working on areas including strategy, innovation, talent development, and external relations.
That means “Sievert left T-Mobile” is inaccurate. He left the CEO position but remained involved with the company.

Did Mike Sievert retire?
T-Mobile’s announcement did not describe the change as retirement. It described a planned leadership transition in which Sievert moved to a continuing executive and board role. Unless a later company statement says otherwise, “retired” is not the precise description.
Why did T-Mobile change CEOs?
T-Mobile characterized the move as the result of a well-established, multi-year succession-planning process led by Sievert and the board. The company said the transition would prepare T-Mobile for its next phase, including work on customer experience, digital transformation, wireless and broadband growth, and its “Un-carrier” strategy.
There is no evidence in the cited official materials that Sievert was dismissed, forced out, or left because of a crisis. Those materials present the change as planned succession, although that characterization comes from T-Mobile and should not be treated as independent proof of every factor behind the decision.

What does it mean for investors?
For investors, the change is primarily relevant to leadership continuity, succession planning, governance, and execution. Sievert’s continued role may support continuity, while Gopalan’s appointment places responsibility for strategy and operations with a new CEO.
The succession announcement alone does not establish what will happen to T-Mobile’s stock price, dividends, network spending, customer growth, or future financial results. Those outcomes depend on later operating performance and market conditions.
The bottom line
Mike Sievert did step down as T-Mobile CEO, but the change took effect on November 1, 2025—not in 2026. Srini Gopalan replaced him and remains T-Mobile’s president and CEO in the latest cited 2026 materials. Sievert remains with T-Mobile as vice chairman and a board member, so this was a planned CEO succession rather than a full departure or announced retirement.
