Xbox revenue did not climb in Microsoft’s latest reported quarter. For the quarter ended June 30, 2026, Microsoft said Xbox revenue fell 10% year over year, or 11% in constant currency. Xbox content and services revenue also fell 10%. The 33% Xbox hardware decline sometimes associated with this result was reported for the prior quarter, not Q4.
What Microsoft reported for Xbox in Q4
Microsoft’s fiscal 2026 fourth quarter ended June 30, 2026, and the company released its results on July 29, 2026. On the earnings call, CFO Amy Hood said Xbox revenue decreased 10% year over year, or 11% in constant currency. Microsoft’s investor metrics likewise show Xbox content and services revenue down 10% for the quarter.
Microsoft attributed the content-and-services comparison to a strong first-party content performance in the prior-year period. That is the company’s explanation for the comparison; the reported materials do not establish that a particular current-year release, subscription change, price, or engagement trend caused the decline. Xbox revenue categories are not interchangeable
Xbox revenue
The 10% decline is Microsoft’s reported year-over-year change in Xbox revenue; the 11% figure adjusts for currency movements. These are two ways of expressing the same quarter’s comparison, not separate revenue categories.

Xbox content and services
This category is broader than game sales. Microsoft includes first- and third-party game content, Game Pass and other subscriptions, Xbox Cloud Gaming, advertising, and other cloud services. It fell 10% in Q4 and 5% for the full FY2026 year, according to Microsoft’s metrics page. Because the category combines several sources of revenue, its result alone does not show how any one of them performed.
Xbox hardware
The 33% hardware revenue decline was reported for FY2026 Q3 and was attributed to lower console volume. It is not a disclosed Q4 hardware percentage. The Q4 materials cited here do not provide a standalone hardware decline figure, so the Q3 number should not be carried forward as if it described the latest quarter. How Xbox fits into Microsoft’s results
Microsoft reported total Q4 revenue of $90.0 billion, up 18% year over year, while its More Personal Computing segment recorded $12.9 billion in revenue, down 4%. Xbox is reported within that broader segment context, but the company-wide increase does not mean Xbox revenue increased. The figures describe different scopes: Microsoft overall, More Personal Computing, and Xbox-related measures.
Microsoft’s Q4 earnings release gives the company and segment figures. Its metrics page says amounts are rounded and information is unaudited unless otherwise noted, and directs readers to SEC filings for fuller information.

- “Xbox revenue climbs”: not supported by Microsoft’s Q4 report; Xbox revenue decreased 10% year over year.
- “Content and services offset hardware sales drop”: the available Q4 figures do not establish that. Content and services also declined 10%, and the cited 33% hardware drop belongs to Q3.
