Yes. On October 7, 2026, a Taiwanese union representing Micron Technology workers said its members had authorized strike action over the company’s bonus scheme. That is authorization—not confirmation of a walkout—and the union said timing and other details were still under discussion. No strike date was reported.
What has the union announced?
The union said it had secured member authorization to strike. Reuters’ October 7 report did not say that workers had stopped work, identify a strike date, or provide a vote tally. The announcement should therefore be read as approval for possible strike action, not as evidence that a strike is under way. Reuters
The union said details, including timing, remained under discussion. The report also does not establish which facilities or workers would participate.
What is the bonus dispute about?
Micron announced a one-time reward package for employees in Taiwan in September. The union rejected that package and is seeking an ongoing profit-sharing arrangement under which employees would receive 15% of the company’s operating profits, according to Focus Taiwan/CNA. That 15% figure is the union’s demand, not an agreed formula or an announced payout. Focus Taiwan/CNA

Union head Lin Che-jui said discussions over the bonus dispute continued and characterized Micron’s reward package as a unilateral proposal that had not been agreed with the union. Reuters reported that Micron described the year as an “extraordinary year”; that is the company’s characterization, not an independent assessment. Reuters

Taiwan News reported before the October 7 announcement that mediation had ended without agreement and that the Taoyuan union planned a strike vote in early October. What is known—and not known—about a possible strike?
- Known: The union says members authorized strike action over the bonus dispute.
- Not established in the October 7 report: whether workers have walked out, when a strike might happen, which facilities would be involved, or the vote totals.
- Still unresolved: whether Micron and the union will reach an agreement, and what terms any eventual profit-sharing plan might include.
