Micron’s latest results and forecast point to exceptionally strong memory demand and constrained supply—not an earnings peak already visible in the data. But they do not prove memory prices cannot turn, or that the stock is attractively valued. Micron reported fiscal Q4 2026 revenue of $54.23 billion and forecast $61.5 billion, plus or minus $1.5 billion, for fiscal Q1 2027. Whether that is enough to support the share price depends on what investors have already priced in and how long current pricing conditions last.
What do Micron’s latest results show?
Micron Technology’s September 30, 2026 earnings release reported fiscal Q4 revenue of $54.23 billion, up from $41.46 billion in the prior quarter and $11.32 billion in the year-earlier quarter. Fiscal 2026 revenue was $133.19 billion, compared with $37.38 billion in fiscal 2025. Micron’s fiscal year ended September 3, 2026. These are company-reported results, not forecasts.
| Period | Revenue | Comparison |
|---|---|---|
| Fiscal Q4 2026 | $54.23 billion | $41.46 billion in the prior quarter; $11.32 billion in fiscal Q4 2025 |
| Fiscal 2026 | $133.19 billion | $37.38 billion in fiscal 2025 |
The next-quarter outlook was stronger still. Management forecast fiscal Q1 2027 revenue of $61.5 billion, plus or minus $1.5 billion; non-GAAP gross margin of approximately 86.25%; and non-GAAP diluted earnings per share of $38.15, plus or minus $1.00. These are management estimates, not achieved results, and the margin and earnings figures use non-GAAP measures.
Why are memory prices and margins so strong?
Micron’s fiscal Q3 2026 Form 10-Q attributes improved pricing and profitability to robust DRAM and NAND demand alongside constrained supply. The company said AI-driven data-center demand for memory and storage was growing faster than Micron and the broader industry could increase supply. That is management’s account of the market, not an independent industry consensus.

Micron’s fiscal Q3 figures illustrate why separating price from volume matters. Sequential DRAM sales increased 67%, primarily because average selling prices rose in the low-60% range while bit shipments grew in the low-single-digit range. NAND sales increased 99%, primarily because average selling prices rose in the mid-80% range while bit shipments grew in the mid-single-digit range. These are Q3 results, not Q4 figures; they show that higher prices, rather than a comparable jump in shipped bits, drove much of the sequential sales growth in that quarter.
For the next two years, Micron expects DRAM and NAND bit shipments to grow in low-to-mid 20% ranges, according to Tom’s Hardware’s October 1, 2026 report on the company’s outlook. That is a shipment-growth forecast, not a prediction that prices will rise at the same rate. Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrotra said, “We do not have line of sight to when supply and demand will return to balance,” as reported by Tom’s Hardware. The statement signals uncertainty about the timing of a balance; it does not establish a date for a price peak.

Do strong results mean memory prices have not peaked?
No. Strong reported revenue and near-term guidance demonstrate that Micron entered fiscal Q1 2027 with powerful business momentum. They cannot, by themselves, establish whether memory prices have peaked: quarterly results reflect prices and shipments during a past reporting period, while the stock market weighs expectations about future results.
Micron’s own Form 10-Q describes the other side of the cycle. If demand weakens for PCs, smartphones, automobiles, servers, or other products that use memory, customers may reduce, delay, or cancel orders. Lower memory demand can put pressure on average selling prices and product sales. Current scarcity does not remove those risks or make memory demand immune to a downturn.

The filing also describes multi-year, take-or-pay strategic customer agreements with binding volume commitments. Most have fixed pricing or minimum and maximum pricing. Micron says these arrangements improve customer supply assurance and give the company more visibility into performance. They do not mean every sale is at a fixed price, nor do they guarantee that market-wide prices or demand cannot change.
What do Micron’s business-unit margins add?
Micron’s earnings release reported the following fiscal Q4 operating margins by business unit. These are operating margins, not gross margins; they should not be compared with the approximately 86.25% non-GAAP gross-margin guidance for the following quarter.
Rank #4
- Compatibility: all systems that support DDR4 SODIMM (Non-ECC Unbuffered)
| Business unit | Fiscal Q4 2026 operating margin |
|---|---|
| Cloud Memory | 76% |
| Core Data Center | 85% |
| Mobile and Client | 88% |
| Automotive and Embedded | 79% |
The spread across units shows that results are not uniform across Micron’s businesses. Product mix and the performance of different end markets matter when assessing how durable company-wide profitability might be; a strong consolidated result does not mean every segment faces identical demand or pricing conditions.
Did Micron stock actually drop after earnings?
The contemporaneous accounts cited here do not establish an unqualified post-earnings decline. The Associated Press reported that Micron shares rose 3% on October 1, 2026, after the company beat expectations and issued stronger forecasts. Morningstar described the reaction as flat. Those descriptions may reflect different observation windows; the available accounts do not resolve the discrepancy. Neither supports calling the move a sustained post-earnings drop without specifying a session, intraday time, or comparison point.

A stock can also fall over a chosen interval even while a company reports strong results. The market reaction depends not only on results, but on how they compare with expectations already embedded in the share price. AP’s account of a one-day gain is a dated report of that session, not a current share price or evidence about performance over a longer period.

The case that the upswing may have further to run
- Micron reported sharply higher fiscal Q4 revenue and forecast another increase for fiscal Q1 2027.
- The company says AI data-center demand for memory and storage has outpaced the industry’s ability to add supply.
- Micron’s outlook, as reported by Tom’s Hardware, anticipates low-to-mid 20% ranges of DRAM and NAND bit-shipment growth over the next two years. Shipment growth could support sales volumes, but does not guarantee further price increases.
The case for caution
- Morningstar’s October 1, 2026 search-result excerpt said much of the upswing may already be reflected in the stock price and pointed to future supply growth and later pricing pressure. The excerpt offers a valuation and cycle-risk interpretation, not evidence of a settled peak date.
- Micron’s SEC filing warns that weaker demand for products using memory can reduce demand, average selling prices, and sales, and that customers may modify or cancel orders.
- Exceptional current margins can make future normalization consequential even if revenue remains high. The key question is whether earnings expectations can be sustained, not simply whether the latest quarter was strong.
The reviewed sources do not establish a definite date for a DRAM or NAND price peak. Micron’s tighter-supply outlook and Morningstar’s caution about future supply growth are different views with different horizons, not proof that one outcome is certain.
How should investors read the next update?
Rather than treating one stock move or revenue number as a verdict on the cycle, track the factors that connect current performance to future earnings:
- Prices versus shipments: Look for separate DRAM and NAND average-selling-price and bit-shipment trends. Revenue growth driven by pricing has different cycle exposure from growth driven by shipped volume.
- Business mix: Compare results across Micron’s business units and consider which end markets are contributing to margins.
- Supply and demand: Check whether company commentary indicates that supply is still constrained relative to demand, and distinguish Micron’s forecast from an industry-wide consensus.
- Customer commitments: Consider how volume agreements improve visibility while leaving broader demand and pricing exposed to change.
- Expectations and valuation: Compare new results with what investors appeared to expect, then assess whether current earnings power can persist or may normalize.
Those measures help frame the peak-cycle question. None, alone, can supply a reliable date for the top in memory prices or Micron’s stock.
