Mercor’s headline revenue figures are mainly annualized run-rate claims and third-party estimates—not audited full-year revenue. The distinction matters because Mercor’s reported gross customer payments include money it later pays to contractors. The latest completed valuation identified here is $10 billion, from its October 2025 Series C; a reported $20 billion valuation was only under discussion in July 2026.
How much revenue does Mercor make?
There is no audited current revenue figure established in the public sources cited here. The clearest numbers are company statements about annualized run rate and Sacra’s estimates of gross revenue. A run rate extrapolates recent activity to a year; it is not the same as revenue recognized over a completed year.
| Figure | What it measures | Source and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| $500 million run rate after 17 months | Annualized run rate | Mercor said on May 8, 2026, that it grew from $0 to this run rate in 17 months. Company claim, not audited full-year revenue. Mercor, May 8, 2026 |
| More than $1 billion | Annualized revenue run rate | Mercor said it crossed this level earlier in 2026. Company claim, not a completed-year result. Mercor, May 8, 2026 |
| $2 billion | Annualized revenue run rate | TechCrunch reported on July 9, 2026, that CEO Brendan Foody said the figure had crossed this level. It is an executive claim reported by the publication, not audited annual revenue. TechCrunch, July 9, 2026 |
| $614 million in H1 2026; $2 billion annualized in June 2026 | Estimated gross revenue | Sacra estimates these amounts and says H1 2026 gross revenue exceeded all of 2025 by 70%. Its figures are estimates, not company-filed financial statements. Sacra, 2026 estimates |
These figures are not interchangeable. Mercor’s May 2026 post also reported more than $14 million in weekly platform volume and more than 30,000 weekly active contractors. Platform volume describes activity flowing through the marketplace; the post does not define it as recognized revenue, so it should not be treated as such.
Why gross revenue is not the same as money Mercor keeps
Mercor operates a two-sided marketplace: AI labs and enterprise customers pay for expert work, and independent contractors receive compensation for that work. Customer projects can draw on specialists such as scientists, doctors, and lawyers. Mercor’s payment infrastructure supports different contract and billing arrangements across countries and currencies, according to the company’s account of its systems. Mercor’s engineering account

CEO Brendan Foody told TechCrunch in September 2025 that the reported revenue measure includes total customer payments before contractors’ share is paid. TechCrunch, September 2025 Sacra likewise labels its estimates gross revenue and estimates that contractors receive 60–70% of top-line revenue; that payout share is Sacra’s estimate, not an audited company disclosure. So a large gross figure is not the same as net revenue, cash retained by Mercor, or profit. It also makes simple comparisons with companies that report net revenue potentially misleading. A valuation-to-revenue multiple is meaningful only when the valuation date and revenue period match and both use the same accounting basis.

On July 9, 2026, TechCrunch reported that Mercor was in early-stage talks for a $20 billion valuation and had reportedly received a term sheet. That is a prospective financing figure, not evidence of a completed round or a confirmed current valuation. TechCrunch, July 9, 2026

What could sustain growth—and what could limit it?
Management’s growth thesis
CEO Brendan Foody described three priorities in an October 2025 strategy post: building a large talent network, improving matching, and delivering work faster. He argued that referrals and the talent experience could strengthen the network. Mercor said more than half of new experts came through referrals, but this is a management-reported figure, and the durability of a competitive moat is not independently established by the cited sources. Foody’s October 24, 2025 post
Demand for expert input into AI model training could support the business if customers continue to need specialized human work at scale. But growth also depends on whether Mercor can match the right experts to projects, maintain service quality, and handle contracts, billing, work tracking, payments, ledgering, and reconciliation reliably as volume rises. The company’s engineering account describes these operational systems as a scaling challenge. Mercor, May 8, 2026

Risks to watch
- Customer concentration: TechCrunch reported in September 2025 that a substantial portion of revenue came from a subset of customers. The sources do not establish a precise concentration percentage. TechCrunch, September 2025
- Competition and pricing: The same report described competition from Scale AI, Surge AI, and related data-labeling and reinforcement-learning services. More competition could pressure prices or divert customer demand. TechCrunch, September 2025
- Trust and reliability: Contractors and customers need confidence in payment accuracy, work quality, and platform operations. Mercor’s reported expansion across countries and currencies makes dependable processing and compliance meaningful execution demands, though the cited sources do not establish how the company performs against those demands.
- Legal uncertainty: TechCrunch reported a Scale AI lawsuit alleging trade-secret misappropriation. That is an allegation, not a court finding. TechCrunch, September 2025
Is Mercor profitable?
The cited sources do not establish whether Mercor is currently profitable, nor do they provide audited net revenue or profit. A run rate, gross customer-payment figure, or large financing valuation cannot answer that question by itself: contractor payouts and other operating costs matter, and the available figures do not provide a complete income statement.
