Meet Kim Jung-youn: The Youngest Billionaire in Forbes’ 2022 Report

Kim Jung-youn became known internationally in September 2022, when Forbes described her as the world’s youngest billionaire at age 18. Forbes linked her wealth to an inheritance from her father, Nexon founder Kim Jung-ju. That was a dated ranking claim—not proof that she remains the youngest billionaire today.

Who is Kim Jung-youn?

Kim Jung-youn is an heir to a stake in NXC, the holding company associated with her family’s ownership of Nexon, the South Korean video-game company. Her father, Kim Jung-ju, founded Nexon. Nexon announced on March 1, 2022, that he had died; the company said he had retired from Nexon management and left its board in 2016. Nexon’s announcement

Forbes reported that neither Jung-youn nor her sister has been involved in Nexon’s operation. The available sources do not establish an operating role for Jung-youn, so her reported wealth should be understood as tied to ownership and inheritance, not a documented executive position. How did Kim Jung-youn become a billionaire?

The reported inheritance chain runs through NXC. Forbes said in September 2022 that Jung-youn inherited a 30.78% stake in NXC after her father’s death. At that time, NXC held about 48% of Nexon, according to Forbes. The holding-company stake—not a direct inheritance of 30.78% of Nexon—is the key distinction. Forbes, September 2022

Forbes estimated Jung-youn’s net worth at $1 billion after inheritance tax in its 2022 report. That is a historical estimate attributed to Forbes, rather than an audited personal disclosure or a current valuation.

What do later figures say about her wealth and NXC ownership?

Later figures describe different things and should not be treated as interchangeable. A company shareholding disclosure reports issued-share ownership; Forbes’s profile gives an estimated personal net worth and ranking.

The April 24, 2026 Nexon disclosure lists Jungyun Kim and Jungmin Kim at 17.16% each of NXC’s issued shares. It lists Yoo Jung-hyun at 33.35% and South Korea’s Ministry of Economy and Finance at 30.64%. Nexon shareholder information

The 2022 inherited-stake figure and the 2026 issued-share disclosure differ in date and reporting context. The sources do not explain the change, so the figures alone do not establish what transactions or other events account for it. Forbes’s 2026 wealth figure is a separate estimate, not a direct conversion of the NXC shareholding percentages.

Is Kim Jung-youn still the world’s youngest billionaire?

That is not established by the available figures. Forbes called her the world’s youngest billionaire in September 2022, when she was 18. Its profile, last updated March 10, 2026, lists her age as 22 and shows an estimated net worth of $1.7 billion as of September 10, 2026, with a world rank of #2427. The profile figure is a Forbes estimate, not an audited personal disclosure. Neither it nor the dated 2022 report verifies that she holds the youngest-billionaire title now.
