There is no evidence in QuantumScape’s SEC disclosures that Jagdeep Singh received ₹48 crore in cash each day. The figure is a headline claim, not a verified daily salary. The company’s filings report large compensation figures for 2020 and 2021, but explain that the 2021 amount included stock options whose value depended on future share-price and business milestones—and that no shares had vested under the award as of the filing.
Does Jagdeep Singh really earn ₹48 crore a day?
Not as a documented daily cash payment. Business Today used the framing “₹48 crore a day” and described an annual package of ₹17,500 crore in 2025, but the company’s disclosures do not verify that Singh received those amounts as cash or realized compensation. The reviewed sources also do not establish the calculation behind the daily figure. Business Today’s 2025 report documents the circulated claim; it is not evidence of daily payments.
The important distinction is between compensation reported for accounting purposes and money actually received. A headline that divides a reported annual figure by days in a year can make a conditional stock award sound like a recurring paycheck. QuantumScape’s filings do not support that interpretation.
What QuantumScape reported in compensation
Company filings show different compensation totals for 2020 and 2021. These are historical reporting-year figures, not a current salary:
#1 Best Overall
| Reporting year | Total compensation | Reported components relevant here |
|---|---|---|
| 2020 | $17,052,115 | $277,116 salary; $16,719,999 stock awards |
| 2021 | $69,102,285 | $68,368,938 non-equity incentive plan compensation |
The 2020 figures appear in QuantumScape’s 2021 Form 10-K, which reports compensation for 2020. The 2021 figures appear in the company’s 2022 proxy statement, which reports compensation for 2021. The large 2021 total should not be read as a $69 million cash salary.
Why the 2021 figure included conditional options
QuantumScape’s 2022 proxy statement said Singh’s 2021 annual total compensation reflected an accounting-driven valuation for his EPA Program stock option award. The company also stated that no shares had vested under that award as of the filing and that exercising the options required payment of $23.04 per share. The proxy’s explanation describes a reported valuation, not proof that Singh had received the corresponding amount.
The award was structured around five equal vesting tranches tied to specified stock-price targets and business milestones. In practical terms, the options were conditional: meeting the stated requirements could allow tranches to vest, but the reported accounting value alone did not mean they had vested, been exercised, or produced proceeds for Singh. The reviewed filings do not establish a final amount he realized from this performance award. QuantumScape’s proxy statement describes the award’s terms.
Who is Jagdeep Singh?
QuantumScape’s 2020 annual filing identified Singh as the company’s president, CEO, co-founder, and chairman. It also said he founded and led Infinera from 2001 to 2009. The company’s 2020 Form 10-K provides that career context.

The reviewed filings and coverage do not independently establish the “Indian-Origin” description in the circulated headline. That biographical detail should therefore be treated as unverified here, rather than assumed from the headline.

Singh served as CEO through February 14, 2024. QuantumScape’s 2024 proxy states that Siva Sivaram became CEO effective February 15, 2024. The company’s 2024 proxy statement records the transition, so Singh should be described as the company’s former CEO, not its current chief executive.
Rank #4
For the latest company filing context, QuantumScape’s 2025 Form 10-K was filed on February 25, 2026, and covers the year ended December 31, 2025. The SEC filing does not change what the earlier compensation figures mean: reported accounting compensation, salary, and realized proceeds are distinct categories.
