Mauricio Umansky has been connected to several separate legal matters, but they do not amount to one ongoing case against him. A False Claims Act case naming him ended with a July 2025 judgment dismissing the claims with prejudice. In a separate lawsuit between ThePLS.com and the National Association of Realtors (NAR), a judge denied NAR’s request for documents from The Agency in August 2026; that ruling did not decide the lawsuit. Older suits tied to a 2017 mansion sale were reported as dismissed or settled. A separate federal forfeiture case involving a Beverly Hills mansion does not name Umansky in the Justice Department’s cited release.
Which legal matters involve Mauricio Umansky?
The matters have different parties and legal questions. In particular, a final judgment ending one case is not the same as a discovery ruling in another, and allegations in a civil complaint are not findings of liability.

Did the False Claims Act case against Umansky get dismissed?
Yes. The final judgment in United States of America ex rel. Relator LLC et al. v. Mauricio Umansky et al., Case No. 2:23-cv-05625, states that the court had granted in part the defendants’ motion to dismiss in January 2025 and granted The Agency Holdco’s motion for summary judgment. On July 28, 2025, the court dismissed the relator’s claims on the merits with prejudice and terminated the case. “With prejudice” means the dismissed claims cannot simply be brought again as the same action.

What did the judge decide in the PLS–NAR dispute?
ThePLS.com, a pocket-listing company co-founded by Umansky, revived litigation against NAR over its Clear Cooperation Policy, according to 2026 reporting. In that case, NAR sought documents from UMRO Realty Group, known as The Agency, concerning earlier lawsuits related to an allegedly fraudulent real-estate transaction. UMRO/The Agency was not a party to the PLS–NAR lawsuit.

Real Estate News reported that on August 18, 2026, the judge denied NAR’s request to compel the records, finding that producing them would impose an “undue burden” on The Agency/UMRO. The decision addressed that specific discovery request; it did not dismiss the PLS claims or establish that Umansky won the underlying lawsuit. NAR’s spokesperson said the ruling concerned a discrete discovery request and did not change NAR’s strategy in the case.

What is known about the older lawsuits over a 2017 mansion sale?
RISMedia reported that Umansky was sued multiple times over the 2017 sale of a mansion seized by the U.S. government. The suits alleged that he represented the seller and then secretly worked to buy the property and flip it for profit. Those allegations should not be treated as proven facts. RISMedia said the fraud-related lawsuits against Umansky and his brokerage were eventually dismissed or settled, and reported that Umansky denied wrongdoing.
The report does not give a complete case-by-case account, including the disposition dates, settlement terms, or reasons for dismissals. It therefore supports saying that the related suits were reported as dismissed or settled, not that every suit ended in the same way.

The cited Justice Department release does not name Umansky as a defendant or allege that he took part in the alleged scheme. It says the DOJ filed a civil forfeiture complaint on April 22, 2026, seeking forfeiture of a Beverly Hills mansion. The complaint alleges that approximately $30 million from a trust benefiting a senior Kurdish official was transferred in 2018 to buy the property, with renovations and improvements carried out from 2019 to 2022. The DOJ also alleges that the scheme involved a Virginia-based defense contractor and others, more than $700 million in Defense Logistics Agency contracts during 2016–2020, and bribes to an official of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. These are allegations in the government’s complaint, not findings against Umansky.
The Justice Department states: “A civil complaint is merely an allegation.” It says the government must prove forfeiture by a preponderance of the evidence. The cited release does not establish whether Umansky or The Agency had any role in a transaction involving the property, so it should not be used to imply such a connection.
