What was wrong with the Wicked dolls’ packaging?
The printed address on packaging for Mattel’s Wicked collection dolls was incorrect. It directed anyone entering the URL to Wicked Pictures rather than to the film’s official landing page. Mattel called the address a misprint and said the dolls were primarily sold in the United States. Coverage identified dolls based on characters including Elphaba and Glinda; it did not establish that every Wicked-branded product was affected.
In a statement reported November 10, 2024, Mattel said the packaging was intended to direct consumers to WickedMovie.com, expressed regret, and said it was taking immediate action to remedy the error. The issue concerned the printed website address, not a defect in the dolls’ operation or content.
What should you do if you bought one?
Mattel advised parents that the misprinted website was not appropriate for children. For a doll with the affected packaging, the company’s reported guidance was to discard the packaging or obscure the link, then contact Mattel Customer Service. The reports do not establish a specific refund or replacement policy for this incident.

When did the dolls return with corrected packaging?
Early reports captured a temporary retail disruption, not a lasting inventory status. TheWrap reported on November 10, 2024, that retailers including Kohl’s, Target, and Amazon were selling the dolls. AP noted the next morning that some online listings appeared unavailable or out of stock at that time. On December 5, the Los Angeles Times reported Mattel said the dolls had returned to online and physical retailers with corrected packaging. Those are dated updates; they do not verify present-day stock or the packaging on any current listing.

The Los Angeles Times reported that a purchaser filed a class-action complaint on December 3, 2024. The complaint described 11-inch fashion dolls based on the film’s main characters and alleged that the plaintiff’s daughter visited the address printed on the package. Those are the plaintiff’s allegations, not established facts or a court finding. The newspaper reported Mattel declined to comment on the lawsuit. The reviewed reporting does not establish the case’s later status or outcome.
