Early signatories included Mark Cuban, Reid Hoffman and Vinod Khosla. The effort paired a pro-business message with an appeal to democracy and grew from 110 venture capitalists reported in July to more than 750 investors in an August follow-up.
Who started VCsforKamala?
Leslie Feinzaig, a Seattle venture capitalist, organized the pledge in July 2024. She told GeekWire that she was not usually openly political, but felt prominent public voices did not reflect many conversations she had with founders and investors. She described the motivation this way: “There are a lot of us that just want to live in a stable, peaceful democracy and have access to government to discuss the things we care about without slinging mud at each other.” (GeekWire)
What did the pledge say?
The group’s statement, reproduced by GeekWire, presented support for Harris alongside business and technology priorities: “We are pro-business, pro-American dream, pro-entrepreneurship, and pro-technological progress. We also believe in democracy as the backbone of our nation.” The statement said the group was united in support of Harris and invited others to join. (GeekWire)
Organizers also solicited donations for Harris. TechCrunch reported that they said the effort was not intended to align with only one political party; that was the organizers’ stated positioning, not an independently established description of every signatory’s views. (TechCrunch)

Mark Cuban, Reid Hoffman and Vinod Khosla were among the prominent investors associated with the pledge. Feinzaig’s LinkedIn post, as reproduced in search results, also described 110 VCs and approximately $150 billion in assets under management at that point, and recounted Cuban and Hoffman signing early. A separate GeekWire follow-up on August 7, 2024 reported that more than 750 investors had signed over the following week. These are dated reporting snapshots, not a single reconciled final count; the available reports do not establish a final total. (GeekWire)

When the reports appeared on July 31 and August 7, 2024, the presidential election was still ahead. VCsforKamala was a public show of support for Harris during that campaign, amid high-profile technology and investment leaders publicly backing Donald Trump. The pledge’s political context is therefore the 2024 election, not a current campaign or an ongoing endorsement drive. (TechCrunch)
