Nisos announced a $6 million funding round on January 6, 2021, led by Paladin Capital Group, with existing investors Columbia Capital and Skylab Capital also participating. The company said it would use the investment to expand marketing and operations and extend its international footprint.

Who invested in Nisos?

Paladin Capital Group led the round. Columbia Capital and Skylab Capital, both existing investors, also participated, according to Nisos’s announcement and the January 6, 2021 release carried by Business Wire.

What did Nisos say it would do with the funding?

Nisos said the money would support expansion in three areas: marketing, operations, and its international footprint. The announcement did not provide a detailed budget or specify how much would go to each area.

What does Nisos do?

At the time of the 2021 announcement, Nisos described itself as a managed-intelligence provider serving security, intelligence, and trust-and-safety teams. Its offerings included Adversary Insights, Intel as a Service, and Zero Touch Diligence. The business focus is organizational intelligence and risk work, not a consumer finance product.

In April 2023, Nisos described a Managed Intelligence Suite centered on risk assessment, ongoing threat monitoring, and investigations. That later description provides context for the company’s direction, but it does not establish that every element of the 2023 suite was part of its 2021 offering.

How does the 2021 round fit Nisos’s funding timeline?

Date Amount announced Named investors Stated use
January 2019 “Just over $6 million,” in Nisos’s issuer release Columbia Capital Not stated in the cited issuer release
January 6, 2021 $6 million Paladin Capital Group led; Columbia Capital and Skylab Capital participated Marketing, operations, and international expansion
May 2022 $15 million Series B Paladin Capital Group led; Columbia Capital and Skylab Capital participated Investment in services, the intelligence platform, and staff to accelerate growth

The 2019 amount above follows Nisos’s own description. SecurityWeek later reported the earlier round as $6.1 million; that secondary-source restatement is not identical to the issuer’s wording. The 2022 financing was a separate Series B, announced by Nisos in May 2022, and should not be combined with the 2021 round.

What the announcements do—and do not—establish

The funding announcements identify the rounds, investors, and stated purposes, but they do not disclose the 2021 financing instrument, valuation, or dilution. Nisos’s later leadership announcements are also time-specific: the company named Ryan LaSalle CEO in December 2023 and announced Bill Phelps’s appointment to its board in March 2024. Those dated developments do not establish who holds those roles today.
