What the 2021 recruitment covered
Scroll.in reported that the Madras High Court Judicial Recruitment Cell advertised 3,557 posts across judicial districts in Tamil Nadu. The roles included office support, watch and maintenance work, and other service positions. The figures and labels below come from Scroll’s reporting; the original High Court notification was not independently verified here.

Scroll’s reports used some inconsistent spellings and role names. The table preserves the labels as reported rather than treating them as a verified transcription of the official notice. Scroll’s April 19 and June 6, 2021 reports both gave the total as 3,557 vacancies: April 19 report and June 6 report.
How the application deadline changed
Contemporary reports describe this chronology:
- Initial deadline: June 6, 2021, according to Scroll’s April 19 report.
- Extended deadline: July 9, 2021, according to Scroll’s June 6 report.
- Last application day: Scroll’s July 9 follow-up described that date as the final day to apply.
The reports establish that the deadline was extended in contemporary coverage, but do not independently confirm the date or terms of an official corrigendum. The July 9 follow-up is available here.

Eligibility details reported at the time
Scroll reported a minimum age of 18 and a general upper age limit of 30, with upper-age relaxation for reserved candidates. It also reported that applicants needed to have passed Class 8, be able to read and write Tamil, and know how to ride a bicycle. These are secondary-source descriptions, not a substitute for the 2021 notification: the exact age categories, relaxations, and post-specific requirements are not established by the reporting cited here.
Was there an application process?
Scroll said candidates could apply online through the High Court website, mhc.tn.gov.in. Its historical instructions described selecting the recruitment notice and a judicial district, completing the form, uploading documents, paying any applicable fee, and keeping a printout. Because this recruitment window ended in 2021, those instructions should not be treated as a route to apply now.
