Lucy Guo did overtake Taylor Swift in Forbes’ ranking of the world’s youngest self-made woman billionaire—but the distinction was temporary. Forbes says Guo held it from April through December 2025. Its April 2025 estimate put her net worth at $1.25 billion, largely because of her retained stake in Scale AI. That figure was an estimate tied to a private-company valuation, not cash in the bank.
Did Lucy Guo really overtake Taylor Swift?
Yes. In April 2025, Forbes reported that Guo had become the world’s youngest self-made woman billionaire, displacing Taylor Swift in that ranking. Forbes’ later profile gives Guo’s titleholder period as April through December 2025. The distinction is historical, not current as of October 2026; the reviewed profile does not identify who succeeded her. Forbes’ Lucy Guo profile
How did Lucy Guo become a billionaire?
Her estimated fortune came mainly from equity in Scale AI, the company she cofounded with Alexandr Wang in 2016. Forbes reported in April 2025 that a tender offer valued Scale AI at $25 billion. It estimated Guo’s just-under-5% stake was worth nearly $1.2 billion and her total net worth at $1.25 billion. Forbes’ April 2025 report
These figures describe Forbes’ estimates at that time, not independently audited accounts or a confirmed sale of Guo’s shares. A tender-offer valuation provides a reference point for the private company; it does not establish that Guo could sell her entire stake at that implied value or turn it into cash immediately. Guo acknowledged the distinction in Forbes’ report, saying by text, “Too bad it’s all on paper haha.”

Who is Lucy Guo?
Guo is an entrepreneur who cofounded Scale AI and later founded Passes, a platform intended to connect creators and celebrities with fans. Forbes says she left Scale AI in 2018 after a disagreement over how the company was being run, while retaining most of her stake. She founded Passes in 2022 and is identified by Forbes as its CEO. Her story illustrates why a billionaire ranking and spendable wealth are not the same thing: the reported estimate depended heavily on the value assigned to a private-company shareholding. In a June 2025 interview with Fortune, Guo summed up her approach to spending with the line, “It’s like, act broke, stay rich.” Fortune interview, June 8, 2025
