CEO Anton Osika said the Stockholm-based AI software startup had grown from 2.3 million reported active users in July 2025 and that users were creating about 100,000 products a day. The bigger business story is Lovable’s attempt to turn viral, bottom-up experimentation into durable enterprise software revenue.
That distinction matters for investors, technology buyers, and employees considering the platform. A large registered-user base can demonstrate exceptional product interest, but it does not prove retention, paid conversion, production deployment, or sustainable profits.

Why 8 million users is not the same as 2.3 million active users
The two user figures cannot be treated as a clean multiplication of Lovable’s customer base. “Nearly 8 million users” may refer to cumulative registered accounts, while “2.3 million active users” could refer to activity during a particular month or another period. Lovable did not publicly define the measurement periods in the cited report.
Likewise, 100,000 products built per day is a volume statistic, not proof that 100,000 durable applications were launched. The figure could include prototypes, experiments, abandoned projects, or repeated iterations. The commercially important questions are different:
- How many users return after their first project?
- How many accounts pay?
- How many projects are deployed and still active after 30 or 90 days?
- How many applications serve external customers or generate revenue?
- How much usage comes from corporate workspaces rather than individual experimentation?
For financial analysis, these distinctions separate attention from recurring revenue quality. A free user can be valuable as a future conversion opportunity, but does not have the same economic significance as a retained enterprise customer with expanding usage.
What Lovable does
Lovable describes its product as an “AI software engineer” for building websites and web applications with natural-language instructions. It is designed to lower the technical barrier to creating software, allowing a user to describe a desired interface, workflow, or database-backed tool and then refine the result conversationally. See the company’s current pricing page for its product and plan descriptions.
Lovable is primarily a web-app platform, not automatically a native iOS or Android development environment. In its comparison with FlutterFlow, Lovable identifies web applications as its focus and contrasts that with FlutterFlow’s stronger native-mobile orientation.

The shift from developers to corporate employees
Lovable’s strategic thesis is that software creation should not be limited to professional developers. Product managers, marketers, sales teams, operations staff, and finance employees may be able to build a working prototype or internal tool without waiting for a conventional engineering project.
The company frames this as “demo, don’t memo”: instead of submitting a written proposal, an employee can create something users can actually try. That can make early validation faster and help an engineering team decide which ideas deserve production investment.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
This bottom-up approach can benefit companies by enabling:
- Faster testing of internal workflows and product ideas.
- More direct participation by nontechnical employees.
- Lower-cost experimentation for low-risk use cases.
- A potential handoff from prototype to professional engineering.
- Employee-led adoption that spreads through an organization.
It also creates a governance problem. If every department can create applications, the company must know what those applications access, who owns them, how they are secured, and what happens when the original creator leaves.
Why enterprise buyers will hesitate
Enterprise adoption is not established merely because employees at large companies have tried a tool. Buyers typically need answers about identity, data protection, audit logs, deployment, compliance, support, and long-term maintenance.

Lovable’s enterprise materials and pricing information describe governance, access controls, usage visibility, security features, publishing controls, and enterprise support. Its documentation also describes authentication and access controls in Lovable Cloud. Those are vendor descriptions, not independent proof that every generated application is secure.
AI-generated applications can contain familiar weaknesses, including:
- Incorrect authorization checks or weak tenant isolation.
- Exposed credentials, API keys, or secrets.
- Insecure database rules and excessive privileges.
- Weak input validation and unsafe file uploads.
- Vulnerable dependencies and inadequate logging.
- Production changes that bypass normal code review.
TechCrunch described a separate incident involving an application built with another vibe-coding tool that exposed 72,000 images, including GPS data and user IDs. Osika acknowledged security as a problem and said security engineering was among Lovable’s fastest-growing hiring areas. The company’s own framing also makes clear that sensitive applications, such as banking software, still require security professionals.
“No-code” reduces coding effort, not engineering responsibility
A working prototype is not automatically production-ready software. Organizations still need requirements, data modeling, testing, monitoring, backups, dependency updates, incident response, and an accountable owner.
The post-build burden can become the most important cost. Someone must investigate regressions caused by later prompts, patch vulnerabilities, manage database migrations, control access, review compliance, and respond when the application fails. A nontechnical employee may be able to create a useful tool without being equipped to evaluate those risks.

Lovable’s business model and cost questions
Lovable offers a free plan and uses shared workspace credits for paid plans. The company says plans are not priced simply by seat or user, while enterprise pricing is volume-based and requires a sales conversation. Its pricing page also describes usage-based billing for hosting and AI features.
That model may fit teams whose usage fluctuates, but it is not equivalent to a predictable flat per-seat license. Costs can vary with:
- The complexity and number of build prompts.
- Repeated iterations and model usage.
- Hosting traffic, storage, and database consumption.
- AI features embedded in deployed applications.
- Team-wide consumption and usage limits.
In June 2026, Lovable announced a move toward one unified credit balance for building and running applications, while saying plan prices and credit consumption rates were not changing. Buyers should still budget separately for building, production hosting, embedded AI usage, external services, security testing, and human engineering work. Credit expiration and consumption rules can also vary by plan and credit type, so the current pricing terms should be checked before committing.

TechCrunch reported that Lovable had raised $228 million, including a $200 million round associated with a $1.8 billion valuation. The article also mentioned market rumors of a possible $5 billion valuation, but Osika did not confirm fundraising plans. That rumor should not be treated as a transaction or current valuation.

The sustainability evidence is mixed but not conclusive. TechCrunch cited Barclays research and Google Trends data suggesting traffic to several AI coding services had fallen after earlier peaks, including an estimate that Lovable traffic was down 40% as of September 2025. Traffic and search interest are not the same as active usage, paid retention, or revenue. A post-launch decline can reflect normalization rather than product failure.
Against that signal, Osika said net dollar retention was above 100%, which generally means an existing customer cohort spent more over time. Without the cohort definition and time period, however, readers cannot determine how broadly that metric applies. The decisive sustainability test is whether Lovable converts experimentation into retained paid workspaces, production deployments, and expanding enterprise contracts.
How Lovable compares with alternatives
The right comparison depends on the workflow rather than on headline user counts:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches- Lovable: Prompt-driven web applications and websites, particularly prototypes, internal tools, and MVPs for mixed technical teams.
- Replit: A more developer-oriented browser coding, collaboration, and deployment environment. See Replit.
- Vercel v0: Prompt-driven interface and web development, especially relevant to teams already using the Vercel ecosystem. See v0.
- Cursor: AI-assisted coding in a developer-focused editor, better suited to professionals working directly in an existing codebase. See Cursor.
- FlutterFlow: A stronger candidate when native mobile output is central. See FlutterFlow.
These are workflow distinctions, not a definitive ranking. Product capabilities, pricing, and enterprise terms change, so a buyer should validate current details directly.
Who should use Lovable?
Lovable appears best suited to lower-risk web use cases such as marketing sites, dashboards, workflow prototypes, small CRUD applications, departmental tools, product demonstrations, and early-stage startup experiments. It can also be useful when a professional engineering team treats generated software as a starting point and reviews it before release.
It is a weaker fit when an organization needs native mobile binaries, complex legacy integration, highly regulated data handling, sophisticated performance engineering, strict deterministic behavior, or production ownership without an engineering and security function. That does not mean the platform cannot participate in such projects; it means the review and control burden is materially higher.
Enterprise buyer checklist
- Data handling: Confirm where prompts, source code, databases, logs, and uploaded files are stored.
- Model handling: Establish whether customer inputs are used to train third-party models.
- Identity: Verify SSO, SCIM, roles, and employee offboarding controls.
- Auditability: Confirm visibility into who created, changed, published, or accessed a project.
- Deployment: Determine whether code, data, configuration, and deployment history can be exported.
- Security: Require scanning and human review before production release.
- Cost control: Test workspace, project, and member-level usage limits.
- Maintenance: Assign responsibility for patches, dependencies, monitoring, backups, and incidents.
- Compliance: Verify certifications, contract terms, and regional hosting requirements.
- Continuity: Plan for a service outage, model change, pricing change, or vendor exit.
Where Lovable came from
Lovable grew out of GPT Engineer, an open-source tool created by Osika that attracted developer attention. Osika said that experience led him to a broader opportunity among people who do not know how to code. That origin helps explain the company’s unusual positioning: it is not only automating work for developers, but also trying to make software creation accessible to the rest of an organization.
