Lotterywest named Boulder Newsagency and Lotto in Boulder WA’s luckiest retailer for 2022 after it sold three Division One winning tickets that year. The ranking was announced on 4 November 2022; it is a historical count, not a current retailer leaderboard or evidence that buying a ticket there improves your odds.
Which WA newsagency did Lotterywest name?
The retailer was Boulder Newsagency and Lotto, in Boulder near Kalgoorlie in Western Australia’s Eastern Goldfields. Lotterywest’s 4 November 2022 announcement identified it as the WA retailer with the most Division One wins across the state for 2022.
The designation describes the number of winning tickets sold by the shop during that calendar year. It does not mean the retailer has a special advantage, nor does it identify which outlet leads today.
What were the three winning tickets?
Lotterywest said the Boulder shop’s third Division One ticket of 2022 was sold for the record $160 million Powerball draw announced the week before its release. That ticket represented a $53 million share. The retailer had also sold a Saturday Lotto Division One winner in September and a Monday Lotto Division One winner in May.

Lotterywest reported that the three winning players shared a $55.4 million prize pool. These amounts and the ranking refer to the 2022 announcement, not current lottery prizes or retailer standings.
Does buying there give you better odds?
No. A shop’s past sales of winning tickets do not establish that tickets bought there are more likely to win. The 2022 distinction records what happened at one retailer in that year; it is not a prediction about future draws or a comparison of the odds at different outlets.

Lotterywest quoted owner Michael Saville saying: “Words can’t even explain the feeling, out of the almost 500 Lotterywest retailers, for our store to have produced so many wins for our players this year, is just fantastic.” The quote conveys the store’s reaction to that year’s results, not a statistical claim about a player’s chances.
Is Boulder still WA’s luckiest retailer?
The 2022 announcement does not answer that question. Lotterywest’s current media centre provides community funding information, but the available material does not establish a current leading retailer. Any newer “luckiest retailer” claim should specify its ranking period, game scope, prize threshold, geography, and whether it counts winning tickets or individual winners before it is compared with Boulder’s three tickets.

For broader context, Lotterywest says more than $1.1 billion was returned to the WA community in grants and prizes during 2025–26. A 31 July 2026 statement from the Western Australian Government reports more than $760 million in player prizes across Lotterywest games and Scratch’n’Win products, along with 87 Division One prizes during that financial year. Those statewide figures do not update the Boulder ranking.

Lotterywest’s 2022 release said tickets were available in-store, online, and through the Lotterywest app at the time. Check Lotterywest’s official channels for current purchasing options and draw details rather than relying on that historical announcement. Lotterywest says Scratch’n’Win tickets can only be purchased from local Lotterywest stores. The organisation also says available profits from Lotto tickets go back to the WA community.

- Let's face it you don't want to give someone a winning scratch off ticket that shows they won a million dollars on it, you would probably lose friends and family if you did that. We heard your complaints and made our winning amounts 10k and 50k. That allows you to choose between the good, the bad, but not the ugly.
- Includes a total of 8 tickets. You will get 4 of the "Big Time Millions" design, and 4 of the "Jackpot Jubilee" design. The "Big time Millions" is a guaranteed $50,000 winner, the "Jackpot Jubilee" is a guaranteed $10,000 winner. In addition to those winning amounts, each ticket also wins an additional $30 for the top game.
- Each ticket measures 8 x 4 inches and includes 2 separate games per ticket. The back is very realistic but also has plenty of info telling them it's fake after they read the fine print, it's hidden enough to fool just about anyone. We didn't just phone in the back text either, the back alone is a crack up.
- Printed using HRP Technology (Hyper Realistic Printing). Some other tickets look ok on the front but once you see the back you can see how fake they look. Compare the front and especially the back of ours to anybody else's, you can see we went that extra mile on our design for both sides. Includes barcodes and scan codes just like the real thing. For the final touch we also added perforation on the top and bottom for that real lottery ticket feel
- Makes a great gift idea. Great for parties, social gathering, work / office parties, holidays, birthdays and any other special occasion. Also great for when you are just hanging out with friends.
