Liz Ledger was unanimously appointed City of South Perth CEO in August 2025 and began the role on 1 December 2025, after eight years as CEO of the Town of Claremont. At her appointment, South Perth’s mayor said she would help guide the City’s strategic direction; Ledger named service improvement and innovation among her priorities. Those statements describe the aims announced at her appointment, not verified results.

When did Liz Ledger take up the South Perth role?

South Perth Council decided unanimously to appoint Ledger at a special meeting on 12 August 2025. The City announced the decision publicly on 14 August. Claremont announced the following day that Ledger would leave after eight years as its CEO, with her tenure there concluding in mid-November.

South Perth’s December 2025 council minutes record that Ledger commenced as CEO on 1 December 2025. The appointment announcement also described the move as a return: Ledger had worked at the City nearly 20 years earlier.

What strategic direction did the appointment announcement set out?

Mayor Greg Milner said Ledger would play a “pivotal role” in guiding the City’s strategic direction and building on its vision for a “vibrant, financially sustainable and connected City.” Ledger said she looked forward to working with Council and the community to improve services, foster innovation and build on the City’s strengths for residents, visitors and local businesses.

These were stated intentions at the time of appointment. They should not be read as evidence that the priorities were subsequently achieved.

Who is Liz Ledger?

South Perth’s December 2025 community publication described Ledger as having more than 30 years of local-government experience. The City’s appointment announcement and Claremont’s departure notice say she had been Claremont CEO for eight years. The organisations provide these career figures as biographical information.

What did Ledger do at the Town of Claremont?

Claremont said Ledger joined the Town in 2010, held management and executive roles, and served as CEO for eight years. In its departure notice, the Town credited her tenure with work including digital transformation, the Town’s response to COVID-19, and redevelopment of community facilities such as Freshwater Gallery and Mackenzie Pavilion. It also pointed to the Town’s 2023 MARKYT Community Scorecard recognition. These are the former employer’s descriptions of work and achievements during her tenure, not an independent assessment of their causes or impact.

What is known about her later CEO status?

On 26 March 2026, South Perth announced Anita Amprimo’s appointment as Acting CEO while Ledger was on personal leave. The City’s meetings page, checked on 8 October 2026, listed a special meeting about CEO arrangements and a future 20 October agenda briefing concerning CEO leave and Acting CEO arrangements. The available material does not establish Ledger’s precise status as of 8 October 2026, so it does not support describing her as the current CEO.
