Lightspeed Venture Partners led InScope’s $4.3 million seed round, reported by TechCrunch on June 12, 2024. It was a 2023 round, according to InScope’s later funding announcement—not a recent raise. In February 2026, InScope announced a $14.5 million Series A led by Norwest, saying the two rounds brought its total funding to $18.8 million.
Who led InScope’s seed round?
Lightspeed Venture Partners led the $4.3 million seed round. TechCrunch’s June 2024 article included an editor’s note clarifying the attribution: Lightspeed led this round, while Better Tomorrow Ventures’ Sheel Mohnot had led earlier rounds. InScope’s February 2026 announcement identifies the seed as a 2023 round.
InScope was founded in 2023 by Mary Antony and Kelsey Gootnick. The company’s early product was aimed at businesses using Oracle NetSuite and automated GAAP and non-GAAP reporting, including cash flow statements. Antony described preparing a cash flow statement as “a sudoku puzzle that you have to do with trial-and-error to get right,” in comments reported by TechCrunch in 2024.

The funding figures and total come from InScope’s February 2026 announcement. That release also said that, over the preceding 12 months, the company’s customer base grew more than fivefold and its annual recurring revenue grew more than 30-fold. Those are company-reported growth measures, not independently audited figures.

What does InScope’s financial reporting software do?
InScope now describes its platform as a tool for audit and accounting firms to draft, review, and issue financial statements. Its February 2026 announcement says it helps teams draft and roll forward statements, review and validate them, and preserve audit trails and change control. The workflow is designed to support professional preparation and review; the available descriptions do not establish autonomous financial statement sign-off.
The company’s claims about time savings need the same context. In its February 2026 release, InScope said accounting firms using the platform reported preparation cycles that were 60% faster. Its homepage also publishes a customer testimonial from Dave Adams, a shareholder and assurance department chair, who estimates savings of “at least 3 to 5 hours on every single financial statement.” These are company-published customer claims, not independently verified results for accounting firms generally.

In a February 2026 report, TechCrunch noted that InScope was not yet fully automating the generation of income statements and balance sheets. The software handled substantial manual work, including checking math and formatting, while people remained involved in the process.
How has the product’s market position changed?
In 2024, InScope’s founders described the product as focused on private companies and contrasted that focus with Workiva’s orientation toward public companies. That was a dated description from the company’s early period, not a current product comparison or basis for choosing between platforms.

In April 2026, digital audit platform provider Inflo announced a strategic technology partnership with InScope. Inflo’s announcement describes connecting its audit platform and audit context with InScope’s financial statement preparation workflow. It establishes that a partnership was announced, but does not specify terms or establish every detail of implementation.

InScope’s story has moved beyond the 2024 seed announcement: the company has since announced a larger Series A and describes a platform for accounting and audit workflows, rather than only its initial NetSuite-oriented reporting use case.
