Jensen Huang is the largest named individual NVIDIA shareholder in the company’s 2026 proxy statement, with 870,604,104 shares, or 3.58%, as of March 23, 2026. Among institutional managers, the answer depends on the filing and date: NVIDIA’s proxy lists BlackRock above Vanguard Capital Management, but those figures use different reporting dates. A later comparison of managers’ Form 13F positions for June 30, 2026, also ranks BlackRock first.

Who owns the most NVIDIA stock?

The answer differs for an individual and an institution. NVIDIA’s 2026 proxy identifies CEO Jensen Huang as the largest named individual beneficial owner. For institutional managers, BlackRock is ahead of Vanguard Capital Management in a June 30, 2026 Form 13F comparison. These are different disclosure lenses, not a single real-time ranking of everyone who ultimately owns NVDA shares.

Largest named individual: Jensen Huang

NVIDIA’s proxy reports Huang beneficially owning 870,604,104 shares, equal to 3.58% of the class, as of March 23, 2026. The figure includes shares attributed through trusts, LLCs, and the Huang Foundation; it should not be read as a count of shares he personally holds outright.

Largest institutional manager in the later 13F comparison: BlackRock

A compilation of Form 13F filings for positions dated June 30, 2026, lists BlackRock with 1,941,918,386 NVDA shares and Vanguard Capital Management with 1,540,816,358. These are manager-reported long U.S. equity positions, not a census of unique ultimate owners. The compilation was published September 23, 2026. See the Q2 2026 Form 13F compilation.

What NVIDIA’s 2026 proxy says about major holders

NVIDIA’s definitive proxy statement, filed May 12, 2026, lists the following large holders. The institutional figures do not share the same as-of date, so the proxy table is not a clean, same-day institutional leaderboard.

Holder named in proxy Shares Percent Underlying ownership date and filing
BlackRock, Inc. 1,805,935,550 7.43% December 31, 2023; Schedule 13G/A, adjusted for NVIDIA’s June 2024 ten-for-one stock split
Vanguard Capital Management 1,777,408,252 7.31% March 31, 2026; Schedule 13G
Jensen Huang 870,604,104 3.58% March 23, 2026; NVIDIA proxy beneficial-ownership table

The proxy’s BlackRock figure traces to a January 26, 2024 Schedule 13G/A that reported ownership on December 31, 2023. NVIDIA adjusted the share count for the 2024 stock split. Vanguard Capital Management’s proxy figure traces to a Schedule 13G filed April 28, 2026, reporting ownership on March 31, 2026. The distinct dates explain why the two proxy percentages should not be treated as a simultaneous comparison. Read NVIDIA’s 2026 proxy statement and review the proxy ownership footnotes.

Why Vanguard appears with different share counts

A separate Schedule 13G filed by The Vanguard Group on January 30, 2026, reported 2,266,625,855 shares, or 9.32%, as of December 31, 2025. That filing names The Vanguard Group, whereas NVIDIA’s proxy separately lists Vanguard Capital Management using a March 31, 2026 position. They are not interchangeable entity labels or dates.

The Vanguard Group filing describes an internal realignment effective January 12, 2026, and anticipated separate beneficial-ownership reporting by certain subsidiaries or divisions. Its year-end parent-company figure therefore should not be casually compared with a later subsidiary or divisional manager line as if both measured the same reporting entity on the same date. See The Vanguard Group’s Schedule 13G filing.

What “beneficial ownership” means in the proxy

NVIDIA says its proxy uses SEC beneficial-ownership rules, which generally include voting or investment power and certain common shares subject to restricted stock units (RSUs) or performance stock units (PSUs) vesting within 60 days of March 23, 2026. In the company’s words, “Beneficial ownership is determined in accordance with the SEC’s rules and generally includes voting or investment power with respect to securities as well as shares of common stock subject to PSUs or RSUs that will vest within 60 days of March 23, 2026.”

For Huang, the listed total includes shares attributed through multiple vehicles, including the Huang Trust, other trusts, LLCs, and the Huang Foundation. NVIDIA says the foundation shares are included for Item 403 reporting because Huang and his wife are foundation board members, while also stating that they have no pecuniary interest in those foundation shares. Beneficial ownership is a disclosure classification; it does not necessarily mean the person receives the economic benefit of every included share.

How to read the institutional rankings

Proxy and Schedule 13G figures

The proxy’s institutional entries rely on Schedule 13G/A or Schedule 13G disclosures and name the entity reported as a beneficial owner. Their usefulness depends on checking each underlying date and footnote, especially when the table combines a 2023 BlackRock figure with a 2026 Vanguard Capital Management figure.

Form 13F positions

Form 13F is a delayed report of certain long U.S. equity positions held by institutional investment managers. It excludes short positions, derivatives, cash, and non-U.S. holdings, so its share count is not a complete picture of economic exposure or ultimate ownership. The Q2 2026 compilation provides a more recent common quarter-end manager comparison than the proxy’s BlackRock footnote, but it still is not a live register.

Do not add manager rows together to estimate the number of distinct NVDA owners: holdings can overlap through different reporting arrangements, and the rows describe managers’ reported positions rather than a map of each final investor. NVIDIA’s investor relations filings and reports page and later SEC disclosures are the places to check for updates.

Which figure should an investor use?

  • For the largest named person: use Jensen Huang’s 870,604,104 shares (3.58%) in NVIDIA’s proxy, dated March 23, 2026.
  • For the proxy’s named institutional entries: use the disclosed values with their distinct dates attached; BlackRock’s figure is based on December 31, 2023, while Vanguard Capital Management’s is based on March 31, 2026.
  • For a later common-date manager comparison: use the June 30, 2026 Form 13F compilation, and describe its figures as reported long positions rather than ultimate ownership.
  • For a current decision: check for newer filings first. Ownership disclosures are dated snapshots and can change between reporting periods.
