In a story published on 31 March 2025, PerthNow reported that Kmart’s Long Sleeve Belted Denim Midi Dress was priced at $45, compared with $525 for Aje’s Colorado Denim Midi Dress. The article described similarities in their denim shirt-dress styling, but that is a visual comparison—not proof the garments are identical or that one copied the other. Those prices are historical, not confirmed current offers.

Which Kmart and Aje dresses were compared?

PerthNow identified Kmart’s Long Sleeve Belted Denim Midi Dress and Aje’s Colorado Denim Midi Dress. The reported comparison was based on their appearance and listed features, not a product test or an assessment of construction.

PerthNow’s 31 March 2025 story reported that both dresses had collared denim styling, ballooned sleeves, side pockets, a belt and buttons running up the dress. An Instagram fashion blogger, Kmartinsider, was quoted saying: “Been waiting Aje’s for a midi version to land at @kmartaus and it’s finally happening!” PerthNow also reported that some followers called the look “exactly the same”; that was follower reaction, not an independent finding.

How did the reported prices and sizes compare?

Dress Price reported by PerthNow, 31 March 2025 Size range reported by PerthNow
Kmart Long Sleeve Belted Denim Midi Dress $45 6–18
Aje Colorado Denim Midi Dress $525 4–16

At those reported prices, the difference was $480. The figures describe what PerthNow reported in 2025; they do not establish either retailer’s current price, stock or size availability. Check the retailers’ listings before relying on them for a purchase.

What construction details are listed for Aje’s dress?

Aje’s official product page, as indexed, describes the Colorado as a midi-length denim shirt dress made from 100% cotton. Its listed details include a shirt collar, button closure with gold shell buttons, functional front pockets, panel seaming, blouson sleeves with cuffs, lining, and a removable D-ring belt with double belt loops. The indexed page could not be opened, so these details should not be treated as a current listing or used to infer how the Kmart dress is made.

Does the comparison establish that the dresses are equivalent?

No. The reported overlap is in visible styling and selected features. The available information does not establish comparable fabric, fit, finish, durability, manufacturing conditions or performance in wear. Nor does it establish that Kmart’s dress is currently available. Without a direct inspection of both products, “dupe” is best understood as a shorthand for a perceived resemblance, not a quality rating or a claim of identical garments.
