Kiteworks announced a $456 million growth-equity investment on August 14, 2024, supplied by Insight Partners and Sixth Street Growth. The minority-stake deal included partial liquidity for existing stakeholders and put Kiteworks’ implied valuation above $1 billion; the company did not disclose an exact valuation.

Who invested $456 million in Kiteworks?

Insight Partners and Sixth Street Growth provided the investment, according to Sixth Street’s announcement dated August 14, 2024. The investors described it as growth equity, not a conventional venture-capital Series round. SecurityWeek characterized it as a minority-stake investment, while the announcement also called it a partial liquidity event.

Kiteworks had previously raised $120 million in a 2020 financing led by Bregal Sagemount, according to SecurityWeek. That earlier round is separate from the 2024 investment.

What is Kiteworks, and what will it do with the money?

Kiteworks sells a Private Content Network for organizations that need to share and control sensitive information. Its platform brings together secure file sharing, managed file transfer and email data communications, with an emphasis on security, privacy and compliance for enterprises, government agencies and regulated industries. The August 2024 announcement described the platform as FedRAMP-authorized and designed to address global compliance requirements.

Management said the investment would strengthen Kiteworks’ position in secure data transfer and collaboration. TechCrunch reported that the company also planned to use some of the proceeds for acquisitions. The sources do not specify how much of the $456 million was allocated to acquisitions or other uses.

How much is Kiteworks worth?

The financing implied a valuation above $1 billion, making Kiteworks a “unicorn” in the terminology used by SecurityWeek. Neither the company nor the reporting disclosed a precise valuation, so a more exact figure cannot be established from the announcement.

How large was Kiteworks in 2024?

In its August 2024 reporting, TechCrunch said Kiteworks had 100 million end users and served more than 3,650 enterprises and government agencies. Those are figures reported at the time of the investment, not a verified current count. TechCrunch also reported the company had been profitable for two years as of 2024.

What happened after the investment?

Kiteworks continued expanding through acquisitions. In June 2025, Zivver announced that it had joined Kiteworks and referenced the August 2024 investment from Insight Partners and Sixth Street Growth. The announcement said the combination advanced Kiteworks’ work in sovereign and private-data exchange solutions. See Zivver’s acquisition announcement.

Is Kiteworks a file-sharing or managed-file-transfer company?

It spans both categories, and also covers email data communications. Its positioning is broader than a single-purpose file-sharing or file-transfer product: the Private Content Network is intended to bring sensitive-content exchanges across those channels under security, tracking and compliance controls. That description does not by itself establish which deployment model, certifications or integrations will suit a particular organization; buyers evaluating it should verify those requirements for their own environment.
