Keplr is a self-custody wallet offered as a browser extension and a mobile app, with advertised support spanning Cosmos, EVM networks, Bitcoin and Starknet. It may suit people who need wallet tools and dApp access across those ecosystems, but support and features can differ between the extension, mobile app and individual chains. Before sending funds, confirm that your chosen client supports the exact chain and task.
What is Keplr Wallet?
Keplr describes itself as a multichain wallet. Its documentation says private keys are stored locally on the user’s device and signing operations require explicit approval in the wallet interface. That is the stated basis for calling Keplr self-custody: users control the keys and authorize transactions rather than handing custody to a wallet service. See Keplr Wallet Documentation.
Keplr’s official download page lists a browser extension for Chrome, Firefox and Edge, and mobile apps for iOS and Android: Get Keplr Wallet. The Chrome Web Store listing identifies KPLR Pte Ltd as the publisher and displayed version 0.13.52, updated September 23, 2026, when checked on October 4, 2026. What can you do with Keplr?
Keplr advertises different tools on its extension and mobile product pages. Treat these as advertised capabilities rather than a guarantee that every function is available for every chain or in every release.

For a personal-finance decision, the breadth of the feature list matters less than whether your particular client supports the chain and action you need. Verify that before moving assets; the product’s headline ecosystem coverage is not a chain-by-chain guarantee.
Is Keplr safe?
Local key storage and approval prompts describe Keplr’s documented design, not a guarantee that every use is safe. A compromised device, exposed recovery phrase, phishing page, malicious dApp or transaction the user approves can still put funds at risk. The cited product documentation does not establish a security audit result or guarantee protection from these threats.

- Install the extension or app through Keplr’s official distribution page, and check that you have selected the genuine listing.
- Keep recovery material offline and private. Never provide it to a website, support representative or dApp.
- Read the signing prompt before approving. Check what the transaction or permission allows, and stop if you do not understand it.
- Be cautious with connected dApps and permissions; disconnecting an app does not reverse a transaction already signed.
The Chrome Web Store listing says the developer discloses handling “Location” and “User activity.” It also records the developer’s declaration that data is not sold outside approved use cases and is not used for unrelated purposes. These are developer disclosures shown by the store, not an independent audit. Review the listing’s privacy information.
Can you use Keplr on a phone?
Yes. Keplr lists apps for iOS and Android, and its mobile product advertises an in-app browser for discovering and connecting to dApps. Which chains does Keplr support?
Keplr presents support for Cosmos SDK chains, EVM networks, Bitcoin and Starknet. That broad overview does not tell you whether a specific chain is available in the extension, the mobile app or both. The Cosmos wallet registry notes that Keplr’s extension and mobile app can have different chain registries: Cosmos wallet registry.
There is no stable, complete chain-by-chain matrix established here for both clients. Check the current chain list inside the client you plan to use and verify that the exact network and required feature—such as deposits, transfers, staking or dApp connection—are supported before sending funds. Confirm the destination address and network as well; an asset sent on the wrong network may not be recoverable.

How to connect a Ledger to Keplr
Keplr’s support guide, updated September 22, 2025, describes Ledger connections for Cosmos, EVM-compatible networks, Starknet and Bitcoin. The workflow depends on the ecosystem: you need the corresponding Ledger app, and support for one workflow does not imply that every device and chain combination works. - Initialize a new Ledger using Ledger Live, install the needed ecosystem app and keep the device firmware up to date, as the Keplr guide recommends.
- Choose the app for the target workflow: Cosmos for Cosmos-based chains, Ethereum for EVM-compatible chains, Starknet for Starknet, or Bitcoin for Bitcoin.
- Connect the Ledger by cable, or use Bluetooth with a Nano X. Follow Keplr’s extension connection flow and approve the connection on the Ledger.
- For a different ecosystem, open its matching Ledger app and repeat the connection flow. Check current compatibility for your exact chain and device before relying on it.
A Ledger is an optional physical companion for people who want hardware-backed signing, not a requirement for using Keplr. A Ledger Nano X is one example mentioned by the supported connection path, not a universal recommendation; confirm compatibility with the chain and device you intend to use.

Who is Keplr a good fit for?
- Consider it if you want a wallet with both extension and mobile options, use supported Cosmos or other listed ecosystems, or value advertised staking, portfolio, governance and dApp tools.
- Check carefully first if you depend on a particular chain, a specific mobile dApp connection, or a Ledger workflow. Client-specific and chain-specific availability matters more than the broad ecosystem list.
- Look elsewhere or reassess your setup if you need a guarantee of safety, do not want responsibility for protecting recovery material, or cannot confidently review wallet signing requests. No self-custody wallet can remove those responsibilities.
