On 20 August 2024, Leicester announced that McAteer had signed a new long-term contract through at least 2028. The club’s announcement did not disclose his compensation. The wage ranking also lists a 30 June 2028 expiry date, but that detail is secondary reporting; Leicester’s official statement supports only a contract through at least 2028. No. Leicester announced on 22 August 2025 that it had agreed to transfer McAteer to Ipswich Town, subject to league clearance. The available official club information places him at Ipswich, not Leicester; it does not establish a Hull City or Cardiff move or target link.

Leicester’s announcement says the transfer fee was undisclosed. BBC Sport reported that the fee was thought to be about £12 million, but that remains an attributed estimate rather than a confirmed amount. When Leicester announced his new contract in August 2024, it said McAteer had made 26 appearances in all competitions in the preceding season. At the time of the 2025 transfer announcement, Leicester recorded 55 first-team appearances and eight goals for the club. These club-reported career details provide context, but they do not verify his wage.
