That figure appeared in a November 2025 secondary report attributed to the U.S. Travel Association; the underlying association source was not located in the available materials.
What the Canadian Welcome Pass is
The pass is a free, mobile-exclusive set of offers from Discover Kalispell for Canadian travelers visiting the Flathead Valley. The organization says it delivers the pass by text and email. Visitors choose an offer and show it on their phone at the participating business. The official Canadian Welcome Pass page is the place to check current availability, merchants, and terms.
When Discover Kalispell announced the program on November 3, 2025, it said 15 businesses were participating, spanning lodging, retail, dining, and museums. That is the launch count, not a guarantee of the current roster. The live offers and redemption rules can change.
How to use it
- Open the official pass page and review its current offer list and eligibility terms.
- Sign up through the page. Discover Kalispell describes delivery by text and email.
- Choose an offer and check its dates, location, booking requirements, and redemption restrictions.
- Present the offer on your phone at the participating business, following any instructions shown with that deal.
Before relying on a discount, compare it with the business’s directly available price and confirm that your visit falls within the offer’s terms. The pass page is the source for current details.

What the $5.7 billion figure does—and does not—establish
A November 12, 2025, GTA Chronicle article attributed an estimated $5.7 billion in international tourism spending losses “this year” to the U.S. Travel Association, and said fewer Canadian visitors were a major factor. The figure is a secondary report’s account: the underlying U.S. Travel Association publication was not located in the available source material, so it should not be treated here as independently verified.
The same article attributed a projected $70 billion U.S. travel trade deficit for 2025 to the association. That forecast is likewise reported secondhand in the GTA Chronicle story, rather than established here through a primary association source.
Most importantly, the available evidence does not show that Discover Kalispell created the pass in response to either national figure. Its launch announcement framed the program as an effort to welcome Canadian visitors back to the region and renew a longstanding connection with Alberta. Executive Director Diane Medler said, “We miss our Canadian visitors,” and described the pass as an invitation to return to Montana.
What Discover Kalispell says about results
In its January 2026 annual report, Discover Kalispell reported that email inquiries rose 22.39% to 4,755 interactions in 2025, with the summer road-trip campaign and Canadian Welcome Pass among the contributors in the second half of the year. The report does not isolate the pass’s individual effect.

These are Discover Kalispell’s reported engagement figures, not independent measurements of pass redemptions or proof that the program caused the increase. A September 2025 board packet discussed a digital pass and proposed campaign dates of September 15 through December 31, with a possible extension depending on performance and merchant participation.
