Julia Haart’s divorce from Silvio Scaglia was reported final on September 16, 2026, after a years-long legal fight. The major court victory behind the headline came earlier: a New York judge entered a default divorce judgment for Haart in January 2025, and an appeals court affirmed that judgment in April 2026. The appellate court also sent several financial awards back for further findings, so the available reporting does not establish a complete final settlement breakdown.

What happened in Haart and Scaglia’s divorce

Haart filed for divorce in February 2022, according to Us Weekly. The dispute involved ownership and finances connected to Freedom Holding and its subsidiary, Elite World Group. A New York court decision recounts that Freedom Holding was formed in 2018, Elite World Group in January 2019, and Scaglia transferred half of Freedom Holding’s common stock to Haart in July 2019.

On January 17, 2025, New York Supreme Court Justice Jeffrey H. Pearlman struck Scaglia’s verified divorce complaint and granted Haart a default judgment of divorce on her answer and counterclaims. The order also awarded financial and business relief.

Why the appeals court affirmed the divorce judgment

On April 9, 2026, a unanimous panel of New York’s Appellate Division, First Department, affirmed the default and divorce judgment. It said the record showed repeated violations of court orders, including failures or refusals to provide discovery, pay court-ordered counsel and expert fees, and attend conferences. The panel concluded that the trial court had “providently exercised its discretion” in striking Scaglia’s pleadings and granting Haart a divorce on her counterclaims.

The appeal did not undo the divorce judgment. It did, however, require the trial court to explain the basis for several financial awards.

What the January 2025 order awarded

The appellate opinion summarized the trial court’s January 2025 relief. These were the terms of that order as described by the appeals court, not a complete account of the final financial outcome after remand.

  • Management fees: $7.4 million for unpaid fees covering 2019 through 2021.
  • Business interests: 50% ownership of Freedom Holding, its subsidiaries, Elite World Group, and SW Vestry, measured as of the start of the divorce action.
  • Painting proceeds: 50% of proceeds from the sale of a Van Dongen painting owned by Freedom Holding.
  • Company withdrawals: Half of Scaglia’s withdrawals from the company since the action began that constituted dissipation of marital property.
  • Legal fees: 90% of Haart’s legal fees, with the amount to be set after an inquest.
  • Implementation authority: Powers of attorney to carry out orders and address a mortgage foreclosure action involving the marital residence.

Which financial issues the appeals court sent back

The First Department remanded the management-fee, Freedom Holding ownership, and painting-proceeds awards. It directed the trial court to make factual findings and explain the basis for those forms of relief. On the fee award specifically, the panel said the record “lacks the calculation or basis” for the $7.4 million figure and that the issue should be addressed at an inquest.

Any management fees or painting proceeds Haart had already received were to be placed in escrow while the trial court made its written determination. The powers of attorney remained in effect during that process. The available reporting does not include the post-remand judgment or confirm the final amount or terms for each financial award.

What “finally wins” means—and what remains unconfirmed

Us Weekly reported on September 16, 2026, that Haart announced the divorce was final, quoting her Instagram statement: “The divorce is FINAL. This chapter is closed.” That establishes her public announcement of finality. It does not, by itself, supply the final judgment’s itemized financial terms.

In a September 25, 2026 interview, Haart told Us Weekly that she now owns 100% of the company. That is her reported account of the settlement; the April appellate opinion described a January 2025 award of 50% ownership and remanded that ownership finding for further explanation. Without the post-remand order, the precise final business and cash terms should not be stated as court-confirmed.

Us Weekly characterized the dispute as a “$90 million legal battle.” That is the outlet’s framing, not a court valuation of Haart’s judgment or an established total settlement amount.
