The announcement does not establish that the larger target was ever raised: available coverage does not verify the fund’s final fundraising, investments, or current status.
What the 2017 announcement proposed
On March 6, 2017, Joyme Capital announced a strategic cooperation framework agreement with Kee Ever Bright Technology to establish a limited-partnership fund focused on video games and related businesses. The announcement described an initial target of $140 million, equivalent to RMB 1 billion, and an intention to grow the fund to $360 million, or RMB 3 billion. VentureBeat’s reproduction of the announcement and Global Venturing’s March 7, 2017 coverage report those targets.
These were target amounts, not proof of a completed fundraise. The sources do not establish how much capital, if any, was ultimately raised or deployed, or whether the fund remains active.
What businesses the fund was meant to back
The proposed scope included game development, distribution, esports, and related businesses involved in creating or publishing mobile and PC games. Joyme said it would seek ownership stakes in successful game developers. The plan therefore combined equity investment with a potential publishing and market-entry role rather than describing a fund limited to one game format or business function.

Why Joyme emphasized China-market access
Joyme presented publishing resources and local commercial connections as a way to help Western games enter China. In the announcement, founder and CEO Yang Chen (C.Y.) said, “With this Fund, we will look for opportunities to acquire ownership stakes in successful game developers.” The statement describes the fund’s intended strategy; it does not demonstrate that any particular developer received investment or launched a game in China.
Joyme Capital’s About Us page currently describes its investment activity as supporting mid-stage game companies, including Series A–B investments, and connecting North American and European studios with global e-commerce, retail, technology, and distribution resources. That is Joyme’s present self-description, not confirmation of the 2017 fund’s outcome.

What is—and is not—known about the fund’s outcome
The announcement and contemporaneous coverage establish the proposed structure, investment scope, and target amounts. They do not establish a final close, an amount invested, a portfolio, or current operations. Accordingly, $360 million should be described as the intended target announced in 2017, not as money raised, committed, or invested.
