How is the property connected to Johnny Carson?
The Los Angeles Times reports that the house was built between 1949 and 1950 for film producer and director Mervyn LeRoy. Johnny Carson and his third wife, Joanna Carson, bought it around 1972, near the time The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson moved to Burbank. Architectural Digest describes it as a home Carson lived in during the 1970s and 1980s. After the couple divorced in 1985, Joanna retained the property and later oversaw renovations in the 2000s.
The Los Angeles Times identifies the tennis court as an addition Carson made. The original residence was built for LeRoy, so the tennis court should not be confused with the home’s original design.
