The closest published comparison puts John Textor at £2.6 billion in FourFourTwo’s 2026 Football Rich List, while a separate historical estimate puts the Chansiri family at US$575 million. Those figures measure different subjects, use different currencies and dates, and do not establish Dejphon Chansiri’s current personal net worth. Sheffield Wednesday’s takeover has also been completed: the EFL confirmed Arise Capital Partners as the new owner on 2 May 2026, not Textor.
What are the published net worth estimates?
| Subject measured | Estimate | Date and source | What the figure represents |
|---|---|---|---|
| John Textor | £2.6 billion | FourFourTwo, 2026 Football Rich List | A media estimate based on publicly available information; FourFourTwo says it used Forbes valuations as of early December where possible. |
| Chansiri family | US$575 million | Forbes estimate from 2020, as reported by The National in 2026 | A historical family-level estimate, not an estimate of Dejphon Chansiri’s individual wealth. |
FourFourTwo describes its list as based on public figures and, where possible, Forbes valuations as of early December. It is not a disclosed or audited personal balance sheet. The National’s account of the Forbes figure identifies the Chansiri family as the subject; it does not make the amount a current personal estimate for Dejphon Chansiri.

Can the figures show who is wealthier?
They do not support a reliable like-for-like comparison. Textor’s number is a 2026 estimate for him, while the Chansiri number is a 2020 estimate for a family. They are in different currencies and come from different estimation contexts. Converting the currencies or dividing one figure by the other would create a precise-looking ratio without resolving those differences.
There is also no updated personal figure for Chansiri in the available reporting. The BBC quoted a football-finance academic who said Chansiri held a significant number of Thai Union family-business shares and that their value, along with his personal wealth, had fallen in recent years. The report did not give a revised net worth.

Who bought Sheffield Wednesday?
John Textor was previously linked to interest in Sheffield Wednesday, but he was not the buyer in the completed takeover. On 2 May 2026, the EFL confirmed that administrators BTG had concluded an agreement with Arise Capital Partners LLC, a consortium led by David Storch, to transfer the club’s assets and place the club under new ownership. The club had announced on 10 March that Arise had become the preferred bidder after an earlier preferred bidder withdrew.
BBC Sport reported that the takeover ended Chansiri’s ownership. It also reported that the EFL would not apply the 15-point deduction that otherwise would have followed the club’s exit from administration.
Quick Recap
What to take from the comparison
- Textor: £2.6 billion is FourFourTwo’s 2026 media-list estimate, not a personal financial disclosure.
- Chansiri: US$575 million is a historical estimate for the family, not a current estimate of Dejphon Chansiri’s personal net worth.
- Takeover: Arise Capital Partners, led by David Storch, became Sheffield Wednesday’s new owner; Textor did not complete the purchase.
