Manchester City has not publicly confirmed his wages, and the available evidence does not substantiate a Wrexham move.
How much did John Stones earn at Manchester City?
Manchester City has not disclosed Stones’ salary in its official announcements. The club announced a five-year contract extension in August 2021, keeping him at City through summer 2026, but gave no wage figure. Its later departure announcement also omitted his pay. Manchester City’s 2021 contract announcement
Salary databases publish estimates, not verified contractual figures. Salary Sport displays £200,000 per week, or £10.4 million a year, and labels £200,000 as a 2026 Manchester City wage in a contract table. But the same page says Stones plays for Inter, so its current-club context is inconsistent. This should not be reported as a confirmed City salary. Salary Sport’s John Stones page
For a personal-finance comparison, the key distinction is between an official salary disclosure and a third-party estimate. The £200,000 figure is an estimate attributed to Salary Sport; City has not confirmed it. Public wage figures also need context such as whether they are gross or net and the season they cover, which should not be assumed from a weekly or annual conversion alone.

Did Wrexham plot a shock move for Stones?
No credible support for a Wrexham transfer plan appears in the available records. The confirmed move was to Inter: the Italian club announced Stones’ signing on 30 July 2026 and says his contract runs until 30 June 2028. Manchester City also confirmed that he joined Inter after leaving City. Inter’s signing announcement Manchester City’s departure announcement

What Stones achieved at Manchester City
Manchester City records 295 competitive appearances and 19 goals for Stones, along with six Premier League titles during his time at the club. Those are career totals for City, not figures for his Inter spell. BBC Sport reported 293 appearances on 28 April 2026, before the end of his City tenure; the later City total is 295.
Stones described City as his home in a social-media statement reported by BBC Sport on 28 April 2026: “It has been my home for the past 10 years and it will be my home for the rest of my life.”
