John Deere introduced its high-capacity X Series combines to North American farmers in 2020, with the X9 positioned as the flagship. The family includes the X9 1000 and X9 1100, which differ in power, grain-tank capacity and peak unloading rate. Deere’s headline capacity figures describe particular crops, comparisons or tests—not a guaranteed output for every farm.
What the original X9 preview introduced
John Deere’s January 2022 account says the company announced the X Series to North American farmers in 2020. The X9 was the line’s flagship, built around high harvesting capacity and technology intended to help the machine adjust as conditions change. Deere later described the series’ technology as including ActiveVision cameras, sensors, machine-to-machine communication and automatic adjustments. The company announced in December 2020 that the X Series had been named a 2021 CES Innovation Awards honoree in the Robotics category; that was an award announcement, not an independent measure of field performance.
The product details available today should not all be read as specifications from the initial preview. Deere’s current product materials describe the X9 1000 and X9 1100 configurations and their features, while later updates may be specific to a model year or market.
How the X9 1000 and X9 1100 differ
The current figures below are from John Deere product materials. They are listed maximums or standard capacities, not a promise of the output or capacity achieved in every setup. Optional equipment and specifications can vary by market and configuration.
#1 Best Overall
- Durable construction makes this toy great for both indoor and outdoor play
- Features lights and sounds, corn and draper head, and removable front outside dual wheels
- Unload popcorn kernels (not included) from the grain tank through the rotating auger
- Officially Licensed John Deere Product
- 3 AAA batteries included so the fun can start right away
| Model | Maximum listed power | Standard grain tank | Peak unloading rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| X9 1000 | Up to 630 hp | 420 bushels | 4.6 bushels per second |
| X9 1100 | Up to 690 hp | 460 bushels | 5.3 bushels per second |
| Both models | — | Optional 550-bushel tank, subject to equipment requirements | — |
Deere’s X9 1100 product page specifies a 13.6-liter JD14 engine, dual 24-inch rotors and a 7-square-meter (75-square-foot) cleaning shoe. It also describes a power-folding grain tank and an integrated in-cab display and satellite receiver. Displayed figures may be rounded or shown in different unit systems.
What Deere says drives X9 capacity
The design centers on two separators, expanded threshing and separating areas, and a larger cleaning shoe, alongside engine, driveline and automation updates. Deere says the dual separator has 45% more threshing area and 80% more separating area than its comparison models, and that the cleaning shoe has 36% more cleaning area. These are Deere’s comparisons with prior models, not universal measures of how much more crop an X9 will harvest in a particular field.

- John Deere S780 Combine 712FC Head and Semi with Lowboy Trailer
- 1/64th Scale - Ages 3+
- Set consists of a 1/64 S780 combine with 712FC folding corn head and Freightliner Cascadia semi-tractor pulling a low boy trailer.
- The combine features die-cast body and rear axle. Additional features include clear cab windows that reveal detailed interior, movable feeder housing, and pivoting unloading auger.
- The Cascadia has plastic hood, cab and sleeper mounted onto a die-cast chassis. The lowboy trailer has die-cast frame.
Deere also advertises capacity of up to 7,200 bushels per hour in high-yielding corn. The “up to” figure is tied to that crop context; real throughput depends on crop and field conditions, yield, machine configuration and operating efficiency.
What the reported PAMI comparisons show—and what they don’t
John Deere reports that PAMI tested the X9 1100 against a CLAAS 8800 in tough wheat and canola conditions in Western Canada in late September and early October 2020. The results below are Deere’s account of those specific tests, published on its current product page—not a guarantee for other crops, locations or operating conditions.

- The Bruder John Deere T670i Combine Harvester is a German-made toy with a scale of 1:16, suitable for indoor and outdoor play.
- The combine harvester features realistic details and functions, encouraging imaginative play among children.
- It represents the top model in terms of performance and equipment among the T series of John Deere combine harvesters.
- The toy features Ackerman steering with pendulum compensation, providing smooth and realistic driving experience with a red handle for direct steering.
- The grain tank of the combine harvester has "self-folding" covers that can be opened, and it can be emptied via a drain tube with a manual spindle drive operated by a red handle.
| Test Deere reports | Reported result | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| Wheat at 102 bushels per acre, with a 1% total-loss threshold | 115 tonnes per hour for the X9 1100 versus 90 tonnes per hour for the CLAAS 8800; Deere characterizes this as a 28% X9 capacity advantage. | A comparison under the stated crop, yield and loss threshold in Western Canada in 2020—not a general capacity advantage in all wheat or field conditions. |
| Canola at a 3% loss rate | Both combines achieved 63 tonnes per hour; Deere reports the X9 1100 used 18% less fuel per bushel in that test. | A test-specific throughput and fuel result, not a general fuel-saving estimate. |
Deere’s page cautions that actual values vary with crop conditions, yields, machine count and operational efficiency. These figures are useful for understanding the comparison Deere highlights, but they do not establish typical farm results or overall market performance.

On 28 May 2026, John Deere Australia announced HDR60 and HDF60 draper platforms with a 60-foot (18.3-meter) width, saying they are suitable for Model Year 2027 X9 combines. The Australian announcement also describes updated automation and larger grain-handling features on those MY2027 machines. This is a regional equipment update; the announcement does not establish availability in other markets.
