Joël Piroe’s current salary has not been officially disclosed. The often-cited figure of £40,000 a week is an unverified estimate for the 2025/26 season, not confirmation of what he earns now. Leeds announced on 19 August 2026 that Piroe joined West Ham United on loan for the remainder of the 2026/27 season, and the available official information does not confirm Middlesbrough interest.
Is Joël Piroe currently earning a Leeds United salary?
Leeds United’s announcement of Piroe’s loan to West Ham and its subsequent summer transfer roundup identify him as a departure on loan, not as a current Leeds first-team player. The loan runs for the remainder of the 2026/27 season, according to Leeds United’s 19 August 2026 announcement and the club’s 1 September 2026 transfer roundup.

Neither club announcement gives Piroe’s salary or says how Leeds and West Ham divide his wages during the loan. The Premier League’s 10 June 2026 retained-list publication includes him in Leeds’s contract list, but a contract listing does not disclose pay.
What does the £40,000-a-week figure mean?
FBref displays £40,000 per week for Piroe on its 2025/26 Leeds wage page, explicitly labeling the amount an “Unverified estimation.” It is a third-party estimate for a previous season—not an official wage disclosure and not proof of his current 2026/27 pay.

What is confirmed about Piroe’s Leeds contract and record?
Leeds announced Piroe’s signing from Swansea City on 24 August 2023. The club said his transfer fee was undisclosed and that he had signed a four-year contract through summer 2027. Its 2026 loan announcement records 16 goals in 53 appearances in his first Leeds season, followed by 19 goals in 48 appearances in the campaign in which Leeds won the Championship and he took the Golden Boot. These are Leeds-reported figures, not salary information.

Is Middlesbrough’s reported interest confirmed?
The official Leeds announcements cited here confirm Piroe’s West Ham loan, but do not report Middlesbrough pursuing him. The available evidence therefore does not verify the “big transfer” angle. Unless a newer credible source confirms it, Middlesbrough interest should be treated as unverified rather than as an established transfer development.
