Jharkhand’s latest reported figures show the Mukhyamantri Sarvjan Pension Scheme reached 35.67 lakh beneficiaries in December 2025, up 17.5% from September 2024. That demonstrates a larger recorded reach; it does not, by itself, establish that rural households are better off or that every listed beneficiary received a payment.
What the scheme is—and who the state says it covers
The Mukhyamantri Sarvjan Pension Scheme (MMSPS) is a Jharkhand state social-security pension program. The executive summary of the state’s Jharkhand Economic Survey 2025–26 describes coverage as including women aged 50 and above and people over 50 from Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe categories, irrespective of BPL status. That is the survey’s description; it should not substitute for a current scheme order when checking an individual’s eligibility.
A June 8, 2022 event account from the Chief Minister’s Office described efforts to connect elderly people, widows, destitute women, people with disabilities, members of primitive tribal groups, and people affected by HIV/AIDS. The event page reported more than 779,142 beneficiaries and a payment of ₹1,000 per month at that time. These are historical figures, not confirmation of current eligibility categories or the current pension rate.
How many people are covered?
The latest dated statewide figures in the Economic Survey put MMSPS beneficiaries at 3,567,200 in December 2025, compared with 3,035,000 in September 2024. The reported increase is 17.5%. These are administrative beneficiary counts, not a measure of verified payments or household outcomes.

The survey lists 1,106,499 NSAP beneficiaries across its old-age, widow, disability, and family-benefit categories. It also reports combined administrative reach of roughly 10.3 million across MMSPS, NSAP, and Maiya Samman Yojana. That combined figure is not a count of unique households, nor does it establish that each person received a payment in December 2025.
What the figures do—and do not—say about rural lives
The increase in reported scheme coverage is evidence that more people were recorded as beneficiaries between September 2024 and December 2025. The available figures do not show whether rural recipients received money regularly, how much reached each household, or whether transfers improved food security, healthcare access, debt levels, household decision-making, or autonomy. No scheme-specific impact estimate for those outcomes is established by the cited sources.

The Chief Minister’s Office account said Hemant Soren described efforts to connect people who had been left out: “सभी छुटे हुए वृद्ध, विधवा, निराश्रित महिला, दिव्यांग्जन, आदिम जनजाति एवं एचआइवी एड्स पीड़ित को योजना से जोड़ने की प्रक्रिया जारी है।” This records a government statement from June 2022, not an independent assessment of how many people remained excluded or how the program affected recipients.
Is the pension still ₹1,000 a month?
The ₹1,000 monthly amount appears in the Chief Minister’s Office account of a June 2022 event. It should not be treated as the current rate without a newer authoritative order. The Comptroller and Auditor General’s report on Jharkhand pensions records a schedule of amounts effective from April 2019, while a separate disability pension scheme listing on myScheme states ₹1,000 per month and DBT. Neither establishes today’s rate for every MMSPS category. Older district summaries also contain dated eligibility or rate descriptions, so they should not be relied on as current statewide guidance.

What would establish whether the scheme is changing household outcomes?
Beneficiary totals answer a reach question, not an impact question. A stronger assessment of effects on rural lives would need evidence such as payment histories, interviews with pensioners and their families across rural districts, and independent data on household spending and decision-making. Individual accounts can show how a pension matters in one household, but should not be presented as representative of all beneficiaries without a sound sampling basis.
For a practical eligibility or amount question, look for a current Jharkhand government scheme order rather than inferring rules from a historical event account, an audit schedule from 2019, or an older district page. The sources cited here do not establish current application steps, payment punctuality, rejection patterns, grievance outcomes, or village-level distribution.
