The Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) advertised 583 Excise Constable posts, and later reporting revised the original application deadline: registration closed on 10 July 2023, not the initial 30 June date reported in early coverage.
What was Jharkhand JECCE 2023?
JECCE 2023 was the Jharkhand Excise Constable Competitive Examination, conducted by JSSC to recruit Excise Constables for the state’s Excise and Prohibition Department. JSSC advertised 583 posts, according to Scroll’s 5 June 2023 report and the JSSC brochure.
What were the application dates?
Early coverage gave 30 June 2023 as the application deadline. A later Hindustan Times report dated 9 July 2023 said the registration deadline had been extended to 10 July. It listed 12 July 2023 as the fee-payment deadline and 16–17 July as the application-edit window.
The 2023 application window has passed, so these dates are historical and the old registration link should not be treated as open. The JECCE portal displayed an exam date of 12 April 2026 when reviewed on 8 October 2026; that date has also passed. The page reviewed did not establish whether the examination took place or report an outcome.

How applicants were told to apply
The following were the steps reported for the 2023 process, not instructions for a currently open application:
- Visit jssc.nic.in and open “Application Forms (Apply).”
- Select the JECCE 2023 application link and register.
- Complete and submit the application form, then upload the required documents.
- Download or print a copy of the submitted form for reference.
The brochure advised applicants to read the full advertisement and check that they met its eligibility requirements before applying.

What were the eligibility requirements?
Scroll’s summary said applicants needed to have passed Class 10 from a recognised institution in India and be 18–25 years old as of 1 August 2023. It also noted upper-age relaxation for reserved categories. These are summary details; the brochure contains the applicable category-specific conditions and relaxation rules.
What was the application fee?
Scroll’s early summary reported a fee of ₹100 for unreserved applicants and ₹50 for reserved-category applicants. The brochure provides the more specific terms: its reduced-fee provision distinguishes Jharkhand-resident Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Caste applicants, and the application fee is non-refundable. Applicants needed to check the brochure for the fee applicable to their category and residency status rather than assume the simplified summary applied to everyone.
