Using those estimates, the second figure is roughly 8.3 times the first—but neither salary has been confirmed by Ortega or Netflix, and another report puts her season 1 estimate at about $35,000.
What are the reported figures?
Business Upturn reports estimated per-episode acting pay of about $30,000 for Wednesday season 1 and about $250,000 for season 2, while explicitly noting that neither Netflix nor Ortega confirmed the figures. The estimates are secondary reporting, not public contract terms. (Business Upturn)

| Season | Reported per-episode estimate | What is established |
|---|---|---|
| Wednesday season 1 | About $30,000 in one Business Upturn report; another report notes an alternate estimate of about $35,000. | Neither estimate is confirmed as Ortega’s contract rate. (Business Upturn; Primera Hora) |
| Wednesday season 2 | About $250,000, as reported by Business Upturn. | Unconfirmed estimate; no official figure is provided by Netflix or Ortega in the reporting. (Business Upturn) |
How the “over eight times” calculation works
Using the $30,000 season 1 estimate, the arithmetic is $250,000 ÷ $30,000 ≈ 8.3. That is a comparison between two reported per-episode estimates, not a verified raise.
The alternate season 1 estimate of about $35,000 produces a smaller multiple: $250,000 ÷ $35,000 is about 7.1. Because reports differ on the starting figure and the later figure is also unconfirmed, the exact multiplier should not be treated as established.

Why the season 2 rate is not her total compensation
Netflix confirms that season 2 has eight episodes and that all eight were streaming by September 3, 2025. (Netflix Tudum) Multiplying eight episodes by the reported $250,000 estimate would yield $2 million, but that is only an arithmetic projection from an unconfirmed per-episode estimate—not a confirmed season total or complete compensation figure.
Ortega also served as a producer on season 2, according to a 2025 Harper’s Bazaar profile. Producer compensation and other contract terms are not established by the reported acting-rate estimate, so the public figure cannot be used to determine her full deal. (Harper’s Bazaar)

What is known about her earlier roles—and what is not
Ortega’s earlier credits include five seasons as young Jane on Jane the Virgin, three seasons on Disney’s Stuck in the Middle, an appearance in season 2 of You, and film roles including Scream. Her work also includes X, The Babysitter: Killer Queen, and Scream VI. The cited career profiles establish these credits, but do not disclose her pay for them. (Harper’s Bazaar; Netflix Tudum; ELLE)
That means there is no supported basis here for comparing her Wednesday estimates with a known salary from those earlier shows or films. The documented comparison is limited to conflicting media estimates for the two Wednesday seasons.

Why the estimates should be read cautiously
Netflix confirms the show’s episode count, not Ortega’s compensation. A 2022 TVLine interview with Wednesday co-creator Al Gough discusses the first season’s eight-episode format and Ortega’s central role, but says nothing about her pay. (TVLine) No official salary document or attributable statement confirming the reported amounts is available in these sources.
